To get to this destination we reccomend to rent a 4X4 vehicle because certain sections of the road can be difficult. The Manuel Antonio National Park Hours: 7am. to 4pm. Closed on Monday.
We don’t recommend driving at night because you’ll miss the scenery and will also have trouble distinguishing signs and the road’s painted lines. The most active volcano in Costa Rica.
Driving to Tamarindo you will find many unpaved roads that are easy to drive during the dry season. But during the rainy season it is recommend to drive it with 4x4 only. From San Jose it takes 5 hrs
The trip into Nosara is beautiful, but expect difficult driving and rough roads. During rainy season you might choose a 4x4, especially if you plan to head north from Nosara. From SJO it takes 5 hrs.
From San Jose take the Highway #32 to Limon, it takes around 4 hrs driving. A 4WD vehicle is not needed to get down here, the route is fairly easy and the road is in good conditions.
