The original work-remote café which converts to a (sort-of) locals-only craft beer bar after the laptops go away. Come for the wi-fi, stay for the best staff I know of.

If you're in the back bathroom and want to go about your business in peace keep absolutely still, it's vision is based on movement.

Super chill place to grab a drink and hang with a friend. Usually not too busy on a weeknight. They host all kinds of events too, from tech to poetry. Awesome spot.

Free comedy show every last Tuesday of the month. Really funny but come early if you don't want to be standing up! Great beer and wine selection too. Food platters are a bit small.

Chilli pickles. Delicious! Advice (speaking from experience): do not eat at same time as smoked almonds and ginger kombucha. Kinda extreme for a quiet afternoon!

It may be a bar by night, but by day this sprawling space is the perfect low-key place for a latte, a truffled grilled cheese and some good conversation. Read more

Microbrews unite with local food growers to combine for one hell of a taste explosion in your mouth. Get ready for some of the best sourcing New York has to offer.

Think local. Eat local. Good to work during the day and good for beers in the evening. They sell local foods from farmers on Tuesday or Wed. Pop by the Invisible Dog next door, nice gallery.

Food and atmosphere is great. Huge space. On a Saturday afternoon, there are a lot of kids (babies, toddlers). Depending on how you feel abut kids, or if you have one, this could be a plus or minus.

Local beers, local foods, a cool atmosphere and fabulous employees. Ask the bartender to recommend a beer. You won't be disappointed.

No TVs. No liquor license. Plenty of excellent craft drafts from the 5 boroughs. Free wifi, so be a weirdo and bring your MacBook. Try the Bahn Mi.

Great selection of wine and beer, so many quality local products. The Mezze Plate is great to share, and the Imperial Ham and Grilled Cheese is probably my favorite sandwich in Brooklyn!

It was an unexpectedly great place to work on a weekday. Spacious, good food and a skylight in the middle of the room did it for me.

Amazing vibe! There's even a tiny veggie market in the bar/cafe. A lot of picnic table seating, high ceilings, and great beer selection.

Love this place. Sure, it can sometimes feel like a mommy, daddy, and me class, but solid beer/wine selection and a nice open plan space where you can comfortably wile away an afternoon with friends.

Great place to work; pretty quiet early mornings before the brunch crowd, and super fast wifi. It's so big that I never felt bad about spending a lot of time there.

Great place for a daytime get-together. Grab a table and camp out, people can come and go as they please, order food and drinks at the bar, and pay separately.

Great place to visit for an anthropological study of Brooklynites. Note the oddly-sized "art," French magazines abt cheese & yoga, and the horror on the bartender's face when you ask for bottled beer.

Northeast Egg Sandwich and Apple Ginger soda: brunch that's well above bar food standards. The sarnie comes with crunchy, spicy green bean pickles that are pretty spectacular.
