- EmmaNovember 27, 2016Great atmosphere, great service (sit at the bar) and the food is delicious. I would recommend the peach and burrata salad! We haven't tried the deserts but they looked amazing!
- Laurea de OcampoJuly 31, 2015Go here with 3-4 people and get the family style tasting menu! It is a good way to taste whatever is freshest and best that day. Very good value for the quality of the food, plating and portions.
- Amelia ManiMarch 10, 2017Of course it is pricey but we loved it! The chef's menu was the perfect choice (it is a fair bit of food, have a light lunch if you're going to do it). The wine prices was surprisingly reasonable.
- Jonathan EatherlyFebruary 8, 2015The tonarelli and sunchoke curry were standout hits. Close behind were the brassicas and turnips. Al's Place has beautiful presentation and ambitious selections of flavors. Expect big things coming.
- Lucille FisherJanuary 24, 2017Very hip crowd, delicious innovative vegetarian cuisine. The cooking reminded me of Girl & the Goat in Chicago with its adventurous use of ingredients, condiments & spices.
- Agatha YuAugust 19, 2016Friendly staff and beautiful space. Try out their chef's menu if it's your first time and never skip their dessert 👍🏻
- olivier PEYREOctober 13, 2017Vegetarian food can be super exciting. Voted one of the Top 5 new restaurants in America by Bon Appetite in 2016 I believe. They always look full but you can get a table around 9PM pretty easily.
- Jole PDecember 24, 2015Delicious and innovative dishes. On the pricier side but if you want to venture out and try things, get the chefs prefix menu!
- Amanda SchneiderMarch 6, 2016Believe the hype. Tasting menu and make sure not to miss the lightly cured trout, grits, campanelle, and burrata. Avoid the cocktail menu (but the wine options are great).
- Vihang MehtaMarch 8, 2019Loving this wave of restaurants that focus on vegetables. Opted for a family style menu, loved all the cold dishes and snackables. The warm dishes were good but not memorable.
- Jon B.September 3, 2017Another excellent family-style restaurant, with a menu featuring seasonally inspired dishes. Fun atmosphere, and impeccable service.
- Yotam TroimJuly 8, 2015A great restaurant with such a great variety of vegetarian dishes. However I wouldn't call this restaurant cheap as the dishes are quite small so you end up ordering about three dishes per person.
- Linda YangJuly 30, 2017Creative and surprisingly satisfying vegetable-focused dishes with seasonal ingredients. Tasting menu was delicious!
- Alex PriestJuly 29, 2017Even better than I remembered. The steak (off menu) is unbelievable. Lettuce cups are not to be missed. Ditto for pickle fries. Basically just eat everything.
- Chloe CondonMarch 11, 2016Lemon tart and curry dish were 2 of the best foods I have ever eaten in my life. This place is probably top 5 meals ever for me.
- J KApril 27, 20172016Chron100: Specialties: French fries made from fermented potatoes; seasonal vegetable curry w black lime-marinated cod; grits w goat milk curds&seasonal vege; “Payday” brownie w peanuts&caramel
- RachelOctober 12, 2015Majorly hyped and almost lives up to it. The menu is fairly original and the service is warm, though buckling under the strain of the Place's popularity. Definitely hipster - I counted three man-buns.
- Jon LawsOctober 5, 2015Cozy and lively atmosphere. Small plates perfect for sharing and tasting a little bit of everything. Didn't try anything I didn't absolutely love.
- Kait GaissMay 12, 2016Won Best New Restaurant of 2015. Doing great and inventive things with vegetables and seafood, but you can still order meat as a side dish.
- steenApril 9, 2018Reverse steakhouse where the vegetables are the star of the show and meat is just a side. Go family style!
- Simon TanMay 25, 2017The fries are quite unique. Dessert is also surprising. Lots of greens from their garden out back.
- SarpSeptember 23, 2017Amazing food. Just amazing. Vegetarian heavy dinners and you won’t even notice that.
- Omer ZachJune 19, 2015Solid and surprisingly affordable. The menu is centered around vegetables and subtle seafood.
- Yaron Zakai-OrJune 4, 2016Take the "family style" tasting menu. The wine pairing is very, very interesting. Serving obscure varietals from rare regions.
- Aditi MishraJanuary 7, 2017Their menu is seasonal but the coconut curry we had in the summer was incredible!
- Danielle PJanuary 25, 2016Great atmosphere and yummy prefix menu. Only complaint is that it's a little pricey and they add a ton of sauce to stuff
- Brandon M.April 16, 2019the music here is always banging & perfectly curated. the green pea curry is off the charts
- Iris NgNovember 2, 2015French fries with smoked applesauce dip! On the SF 7x7 must eat before you die list!
- Rob AtkinsonSeptember 17, 2017Great service and cool space. Don't get me wrong, the food was good (and, to their credit, actually quite reasonable), but not memorable
- Sophyan JulioApril 26, 2015Innovative fusion seafood! No hard liquor license when we joined for dinner. Skip the martini mixed drinks.
- Sydney MFebruary 24, 2018Get the yellow wax bean stew and smoked trout. The drinks are a little strange and difficult to drunk as they don’t have a proper liquor license
- Josh YJuly 7, 2022I can tell that the chef is very creative and pays attention to details from the presentation to the combination of the food. Everything is tasty but not impressive. I’d expect something more for ⭐️.
- David WMarch 24, 2017Get the family style fixed price menu! Delicious and imaginative food and drinks!
- Nico PitneyFebruary 11, 2015"Veg and seafood-centric spot from the James Beard Award nominated chef behind Napa's 'groundbreaking' vegetarian restaurant Ubuntu."
- Louise PlqvtMarch 2, 2017Delicious and delicate food, a bit expensive and crowded but really good food.
- Rj SanjoseMay 30, 2016When you go to the bathroom, take one moment and have a little dance party by yourself. No shame, just dance it out! The music is on point and sometimes you need to dance like no one is watching. 💃🏽
