‘Paddington Bear’ was written by Michael Bond in 1958. His bear arrived here somehow from ‘deepest, darkest Peru’ and was named after the station. You can find a statue of him near the escalators.
In 1991 an IRA bomb hidden in a bin in Victoria station killed one man and injured 38. This led to the removal of all litter bins from London stations.
Euston is London’s oldest intercity railway terminus, opening in 1837 with a connection to Birmingham. The grand old Victorian building was replaced with the modern monstrosity in 1968.

Despite the doom-laden warning posters, banners and stickers, the escalators are a really good way to get from platform to platform. Give them a go!
Catch the Metroshuttle bus numbers 1 and 3 from outside the main station entrance for free travel around the city centre.
Starbucks on the footbridge is far less busy than the one in the main staition - I've spent way too much there
Have a coffee in the costa coffee shop. It's in a lovely old kiosk inside the station.
The cash machines in the station charge £1.75. If you go up the escalator & through the foodcourt, there's a free cash machine on the left
Toilets are located between platforms 3&4 underneath the ramp for the footbridge, but you need a ticket to get on the platform
Two good pubs close by - Brunswick (out station turn right, 5 min walk) and Alexandra Hotel. Both worth a visit.
Nice view of Cathedral n Castle about 100ft downhil from station. Always sit on left going south, right going north for the best views.
You get a train, you get to see some of the interesting wild life, and get to laugh at the emo kids that always sit inside
If there's a big queue at the barrier, check the wider one because for some reason people often ignore it!
A good place to catch a train. Except Sundays, when it is a good place to get a rail replacement bus.
Check out the Vita Burst place at Oxford Station. Good juice and good service.
I recommend the little tea shop over the road called theArtOrganisation.co.uk. council owned, so not exactly slick compared to Starbucks...but Way friendlier! A lovely pot of jasmine tea!
If arriving in the area after (approx) 7pm, then the local public transport is very sparse. Taxi's may be the only option.

Aren't many facilities so if you're coming from another station or town I'd get what you need there.
If completing a circuit on the City bus, prepare to pay £1.00 fare. Walking would be faster and more comfortable.
The cafe on platforms 2+3 is incredibly warm to sit in on a cold day. Strongly recommend it

Definitely the best way to get to Heathrow from Central London!
48hr parking (Fri morn to Sat night), right next to entrance, only £13. Pretty good.

Make sure you're wrapped up warm! Platforms are very windy.
Always use the Co-Op for water and snacks. Much cheaper than rip-off WH Smith. And they sell beer...
East Coast do wireless Internet on all their trains, free of charge. Nifty!
New Costa Coffee just opened outside front of station. Usual Costa fare, but much better than the Upper Crust stuff on offer inside the station!
A well-run station generally! Check out the special offers in WH Smith and grab a light lunch at the café.
Don't park directly outside, walk with the station to your left to the furthest car park and pay half the rate!
The only bin is outside in the smoking area of the pumpkin cafe.
If u want to get a cab anywhere, call a premier. Relatively cheaper. This town is full of expensive cabs though.
Be aware that the station (misleadingly) isn't in the centre of MK. It's a good 10-20 minute walk to the main shopping area
Why not treat yourself to a magazine before going through the barrier? They've got a brilliant selection. Makes a journey that usually has delays enjoyable.
The Great Western Pub, close to station has good atmosphere and good selection of beers.
If you are coming from the airport get your ticket from Luton ticket desk in order to avoid queues at station
Contrary to popular belief, the lights display isn't the shadow of real people
The first station opened here in 1863. Now about 2,000 trains pass through each day, making it the busiest station in Europe (but Shinjuku, Tokyo is now the busiest in the world).
Southwark underground station at the end of platforms. Easier to catch jubilee line than walking all the way to Waterloo underground station
This station is a short walk from St Paul's Underground, if you want to continue your journey by tube.
Need a coffee on your journey? There's a Starbucks on platforms 7&8 and an AMT on the entrance level after you go through the gates.
The bagel place inside the station is tasty and has bottomless coffee.
You can see if the trains are on the platform by looking through the frosted windows, so no need to run...unless the train is on the platform, of course.
Trains from platform 3 to Waterloo are quicker than platform 2 (well so says train man)
If you're going eastbound on the circle or metroploitan line. It's a goof idea to go further up the platform at rush hour. You're more likely to get on.
Wait in the middle of the platform. Short trains are liable to stop almost anywhere along the platform.
Take the train to Euston, pay with Oyster card, reach destination in 20 minutes
When heading northbound to London on SWT: Join the train near the ladies toilets for quick access to the tunnel at Clapham Junction.
Morning Star available at the shop in the station! Under the counter though.
The ticket office is open Mon-Sat 5:10-23:00, Sun 7:00-22:55 except Bank Holidays. Self-service machines available at other times.
It's faster to book your tickets in advance online and collect from the ticket machines. Especially during school holidays when the queues can often overflow out of the station.
Try the Hot Dog stand on the main concourse, great Cheesy dogs and the owner is a laugh as well

Don't buy expensive gatwick express tickets get the cheaper southern trains tickets trains take only 8 mins longer into London victoria.
Check the departures screen for your favourite destinations, note the number next to them and walk to the corresponding numbered platform. Your train should arrive there. Eventually.
Grab a coffee from Costa before going through the ticket barriers.
Now you can go all the way south on the East London line without a change at Dalston. Great for those rainy days.
If going to Clapham Junction and changing trains, get on the last carriage and you will be right by the bridge in CJ. If exiting at CJ or Victoria, get on the first carriage to be closest to the exit.

If you're trying to get a west bound train from Platform 3 during evening rush hour, don't try and get on via the first two doors as everyone else does and it gets too crowded. Move down the train.
There is a side entrance to station from platform. No need to climb the stairs for exit.

All trains run to London Bridge if you need to make a connection there.
If your getting trains through or to finsbury park make sure your early, they often change them at the last min! Keep an ear out for the announcements, there are often sneaky platform changes.
If you travel lots but not daily - look at carnet tickets - c£70 for 10 singles which you can use any time for 3 months - just write date - no more queueing!

Take the overground from here to Canada Water Station, if your too lazy to walk all that way for the tube!

Have a look at the sign as you come out. One part is pointing up the track and proudly states, "Upcountry"
Trains usually run to Waterloo every half an hour at 23 and 53 minutes past the hour.
If you fly with BA always remember to look for the shuttle train to the north terminal, as they depart from there.
