Pub · 67 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Great Irish pub with constant live music. As a global connoisseur of Irish pubs I can say with ease that this is my favorite outside of Ireland itself.

Ben Engen: This place is happening. Great food all around, friendly people and a nice vibe. You're in Vancouver so you're going to have seafood. This is the place to do it.
Seafood Restaurant · West End · 122 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Everything thing you'd expect from an "old classic" seafood joint. Happening bar scene at happy hour, good food, antique appointments. Worth going.

Lounge · Downtown Eastside · 74 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Everything you're looking for in a speakeasy inspired watering hole. Elegant yet understated, great drinks and a lovely view. Hit this up in the evening.
Ben Engen: Really great food, reasonable prices and a chic interior. Make it a destination. I had probably the best scone I've ever had here for breakfast.
3735 Capilano Road (Edgemont Blvd), North Vancouver, BC
Bridge · Capilano · 190 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: One of the major tourist attractions around Vancouver. Which leaves me wondering whether the rest of the world has bridges... Go see it, but go at the crack of dawn otherwise it's extremely crowded.
216 Carrall St. (btw Water, Powell & Alexander St), Vancouver, BC
Pub · Gastown · 34 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: The Irish Pub I've been missing in Denver. Decent food and drink, run down enough to feel authentic and featuring live music. This is where you can find me.
859 Hornby St (btwn Robson & Smithe), Vancouver, BC
Sandwich Spot · Downtown Vancouver · 76 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Apparently this place was born out of a restaurant with a sandwich so good they decided just to sell that. Good food, fast, and a good value. Nice for a quick lunch.
Ben Engen: I'm not sure I've ever seen a coffee shop this bustling. Freakin' great donuts and I had a very good breakfast sandwich as well. For sure go if you're in the area.
1725 Powell St (btwn Commercial & Salisbury), Vancouver, BC
Distillery · Grandview-Woodland · 12 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Good cocktails and a neat (almost scary for me) setting. It's a quality place but I don't know that I'd travel this far out to hit it up again.
Ben Engen: The food is great and the service is impeccable. And yet... I just wasn't as enthused as I've been with other Four Season's offerings. Maybe the ambiance?
85 W 1st Ave. (btwn Manitoba & Salt), Vancouver, BC
Gastropub · Mt. Pleasant · 90 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Wound up here by accident and had such a great time I went back several more times. Nice patio, massive dining room, good location. Quality all around.
1011 Hamilton St. (btwn Nelson & Helmcken), Vancouver, BC
Italian Restaurant · Yaletown · 52 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Highest rated pizzas in Vancouver on Foursquare. Sadly, I didn't think they were that great. Interesting ingredient options but otherwise standard and greasy. The service however is great!
300 W Georgia St. (at Hamilton St.), Vancouver, BC
Pub · Downtown Vancouver · 29 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Can't speak to overall as I was there under unique circumstances but any place that'll open at the crack of dawn so I can come out of the rain and watch the World Cup is aces in my book.
1596 Johnston St. (on Granville Island), Vancouver, BC
Gastropub · Fairview · 58 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Good place to eat right in the midst of everything else that is Granville Isle. I only had the duck poutine but it was great, as was the beer flight that I had with it.
225 - 1689 Johnson St (in Granville Island Public Market), Vancouver, BC
Cheese Store · Fairview · 2 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Turns out that actual European cheese is hard to come by in Canada. These guys work with local producers to recreate things as precisely as possible.
1689 Johnston St (in Granville Island Public Market), Vancouver, BC
Tea Room · Fairview · 22 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Their Chai latte is the stuff of local legend and the recipe is highly sought after by all manner of shady global business concerns. See what the hype is about.
450 Granville St. (btwn W. Hastings & W. Pender St.), Vancouver, BC
Café · Downtown Vancouver · 95 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Bonny little coffee shop downtown that's one of the few open late. The setting leaves a little to be desired but the roast the beans right in the front room and apparently their cheesecake is the best
Ben Engen: Nice environment and the lass really seemed to know what she was doing. Helped with my tension headaches and some other pains I wasn't even fully aware of. Good value especially for Vancouver.
Ben Engen: Much hyped cafe in Gastown. I liked everything but their menu feels like they took every ingredient that hipsters are crazed about and just threw them all together.
1873 W 4th Ave (btwn Cypress & Burrard), Vancouver, BC
Burger Joint · Kitsilano · 74 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: If this is the best burger in Van I truly pity these people. It was good but way overcooked which is kind of... step one in making a great burger.
578 Carrall St (btwn E Pender & Keefer), Vancouver, BC
Garden · Downtown Vancouver · 55 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Nice Chinese garden with a free and a paid side. I only saw the free side but it didn't seem that great. Worth stopping in if you're in the neighborhood. Otherwise...
Ben Engen: As a major hot dog devotee I tried one of these just for the novelty of the thing. ...I wasn't wild about it. I think fusion cuisine has its limits.
Movie Theater · Downtown Vancouver · 103 tips and reviews
Ben Engen: Expansive theater downtown. It has some seats that actually move according to what's happening on screen. Seems like a cool idea but I just found it distracting. I'll stick with the recliners.
