Pricier than many other local cafe / pizza / bar spots, but for a good reason. The food quality is high, there's a lot to love here. Great drinks and coffee to boot (har har).

Love the Sicilian-style eggs pizza for brunch. My wife and I like to come here after dinner at Penrose across the street. The desserts are better here and the vibe is more intimate for a nightcap.

This hip Italian hot zone gets very busy during peak times. The bar in the back is quieter; rich pork confit hash with hot and sweet peppers or potato wedges and a poached egg are great options. Read more

Order two appetizers, a pasta and a pizza. If you're still hungry order more. The cocktail menu is fantastic, if you just feel like boozing it up there's a bar out the back. Cafe is also open at 7am.

This place is one of the most reliable restaurant in terms of providing the top notch qualities in both food and drinks. There aren't many places like that when you ask for consistency. Umparalleled.

A delicious menu, divine cocktails and a gorgeous space. Also a great beer list! A gem for the area and perfect for romantic dinners. The music can be a bit loud. Worth the wait.

The potato and rosemary pizza is delicious. And leftovers (if you can manage it) make for a awesome breakfast the next morning

You wouldn't think Oakland over Chicago or NY for pizza but this spot and Arizmendi on the other side on Lakeshore sure do compete for thin crust. Not as cracker crisp but still a great margherita

Vegans: they have a chef's special pizza called the Pizzaiolo. It's always different ingredients but always yummy. I always order "the vegan pizza" just to be sure.

Order a Rkatsiteli orange wine with a wood-fired al pizzaiolo. It's natural phenols and tannins balance the char on the pizza crust.

When they are crowded (which is always) and have a long wait, the very large bar area serves the full menu without reservations or putting your name down, just grab a seat or two.

Get blankets if you're on the patio at night. It gets chilly and the heaters are ineffective for the booths.

Brunch is much better than dinner. Dinner serving sizes are a little too small, esp considering price. Service is spotty at best.

We’re going to be honest – we came for the pizza but we were more obsessed with everything else (there was not one morsel we put in our mouths that we didn’t love) – the pastas, salads, and apps.
