- Bruce LeflarFebruary 23, 2014Located in the heart of Old Town San Diego, this restaurant is surrounded by other Mexican restaurants, but don't be fooled. Cafe Coyote is by far the best. Best food, best drinks and best service.
- One of my top choices for Taco Tuesday. They have great food all around and cheap drinks during special times. The line might seem long but, they move through it very quickly!! Delicious tortillas
- Alexandra ChacaraOctober 6, 2015Ordered the Chile Colorado plate. Very tasty, not too filling. Service here is great; waiter was timely with food. Complication with margarita earned us free flan, tasted like cheesecake!
- Jennifer SSeptember 2, 2019Tried the queso fundido. The tortillas came out warm and complimented the queso perfectly. Make sure you try this dish, you won’t regret it.
- Brian MercadoJuly 29, 2015I enjoy doing here for a night out with friends and family for great, traditional Mexican food. The margaritas are always mixed well with a perfect blend of tequila. A popular tourist so it is crowded
- L CMarch 21, 2015The carnitas were amazing! Crispy skin, well seasoned and served with homemade tortillas! The wait can be long so call for reservations Id possible. The wait is worth it though!
- Andrew CerdaJanuary 2, 2014The queso dip strays from your typical cheeses and offers up a really light, slightly jalapeño tasting delight. Don't forget to ask for home made tortillas to dip (vs. chips).
- DebbieAugust 27, 2014oh my gosh this place was the best!! everything we ordered was delicious and will certainly go again!!! i had the red white and blue margarita and it was soooo good.
- Amanda ReussAugust 21, 2019A must-visit for Mexican cuisine in Old Town. Tortillas are made fresh as you enter the restaurant. Enjoy the live mariachi music during your dining experience.
- Julie CummingsJanuary 27, 2015I had the flauta plate & my husband had variety plate (taco, enchilada, & chili relleno). Both had an AWESOME smokey chili flavor. Atmosphere's great & lots of seating space.
- Marco NavarraOctober 22, 2017Great chips and salsa! Their spicer homemade was great too! Enjoyed the Pollo a la crema was very good! Great Cadillac Margarita!
- Mario's the best server. We've been coming to see him for a few years. This is a must stop when we visit San Diego from the east coast. The food and drinks are the best!
- Alexa PomericoAugust 7, 2014Delicious margaritas and cheap but tasty Mexican food! The fries are in not served on the side of the California burrito.
- David GravesFebruary 24, 2015Like stepping into a giant Mexican stereotype. Fun place, mariachi band, HUGE margaritas. Not the most authentic experience but definitely fun and satisfying.
- Jill O'RileyJune 12, 2013Wow this place is awesome! I came with some friends for Taco Tuesday. The tacos are like $2 to $3 each which isn't bad for the quality you get. There was plenty of meat and fixings in there.
- Giancarlo S.July 8, 2015The chicken flautas are excellent. If you order cafe salad instead of beans and rice, get it with the Mexican dressing.
- Road UnraveledMay 22, 2023This place is great! Huge Margarita selection and the California Burrito was amazing.
- Merve E. H.August 15, 2018Good margarita. Menu is good and foos is delicious they serve nachos as welcome. Prices are ok
- Begum TekinJuly 2, 2015Great menu and delicious mexican food. They have a good selection of Margaritas. The prices are moderate and the portions are big.
- Ask for Juliette for your server. She rocks and is super nice. She never rolled her eyes when I was ordering. I'm lactose intolerant and she was super understanding. She need a raise.
- Kevin was awesome & made great suggestions. Very friendly & lots of fun. Unfortunately we went back the next day & Alex really sucked!! Wish the service was a bit more consistant, the food was amazing
- Carrie HugginsOctober 12, 2016Taco Tuesday is a great day to visit. Awesome tacos and great service. You have to have a churro after dinner, so yummy.
- Jay PerskeNovember 17, 2015Wow! This place is awesome! Fish tacos were awesome, burrito was gigantic! The Salsa, the best I ever had. The flan! Crazy good!
- Polina WeitzJune 10, 2017Great, huge margaritas, awesome nachos and delicious shrimp and fish tacos. The bartenders were great!
- Matthew SadlerMarch 5, 2016San Diego has the best burritos. Cafe Coyotes carne asada was no exception. Order some handmade tortillas for your appetizer.

- Spencer CollinsJune 26, 2013AMAZING food and even better customer service! We got many things taken off our bill because our waitress said she got too busy. We didn't wait any longer than anywhere else! Thanks Yesenia!
- Enrique Gutiérrez ArzateFebruary 1, 2015It's, by far, the best Mexican foreign restaurant I've tried. Still they are missing some things, like using black beans instead of brown ones...
- Justin BurnsJanuary 28, 2016Ask for the vegetarian menu. Flour tortillas and potatoes have dairy in them and the pinto beans have lard.Meh
- AbdulrahmanApril 24, 2017Amazing place to try the real Mexican food with this outstanding environment.
- Candy D’liteFebruary 12, 2014The salsa was mostly raw onions, order a side of beans to have something to dip your chips in
- Leon BOctober 29, 2012If you talk to the right people you'll get a free cheese quesadilla every time you come. EVERYTHING is good. My favorite is the carnitas!
- Kyle GrayJuly 10, 2017Super long wait on busy days. Don't order the street tacos, get a protein bowl or a tamale and you won't be disappointed.
- Maria PerezJune 24, 2010Drive up to the corner onto the red stop sign, get out & buy 2 home made tortillas for $1, add butter! You literally buy them on the sidewalk; there will be a lady making them on the spot. Way Yummy! Read more
- AlesoJune 27, 2016This place is always packed but neither the dishes or the cocktails aren't that good, in the other hand the place is cozy and the staff very friendly
- Tom SedlacekJune 30, 2016Wow.. If this is #2 in town I'd hate to see #10! Salsa was TERRIBLE. My ketchup at home is more salsa-y. Wabo-rita had very little "wabo" and the enchiladas were ordinary at best... Cisco all the way
- Jonathan WeirSeptember 6, 2016The GIANT margarita is worth sharing (or one by yourself if you want a few giggles from the other tables)
- RedRockPacoJuly 16, 2012This is the best Mexican restaurant in the USA. Everything is great and their on the spot tortillas are awesome.
- Amy LeighJanuary 24, 2020Strong margaritas. Lots of food. Salsa has good level of spice. Fresh food.
