- The scramble with basil is out of this world... I have dreams about it. Also, the brew over ice coffee is like crack and makes me bug out, but it's also the most delicious in the neighborhood!
- Project Latte: a NYC cafe culture guideAugust 1, 2013The old Cafe Royal has become Cafe Edna. Wifi is much improved, there are lots of plugs, and a full food menu. Coffee is courtesy of Toby's Estate. Great, quiet place to work.
- Mike WilliamsJuly 5, 2011Music was fine actually. Some post punk and first wave xm radio station. Nice place to read and sip on a cafinated beverage with an array of desks and tables. What you expect from a modern BK cafe.
- Project Latte: a NYC cafe culture guideAugust 1, 2013Near the end of June, the old Cafe Royal became Cafe Edna, reopening with a new coat of paint, better wifi, and now offering Toby's Estate Coffee.
- Lindsey RhoadesOctober 11, 2013Tofu Scramble Breakfast Burrito is ultra delicious and not at all skimpy despite its 4$ pricetag. This just became my go-to.
- New owners, now called Cafe Edna. Awesome outdoor seating, friendly staff, delicious egg wraps still the same.
- My favorite coffee in this area. The food looks awesome, but I haven't tried it yet.
- Sad. They revamped the place and in doing so lost a huge amount of character. No more mix n match chairs or funky school desks. The metal tables and dark wood chairs seem West Elm-ish.
- Seems like a def improvement over cafe royal. No one is here, but can imagine in a few weeks it might be very decent and busy.
- Katie KlencheskiSeptember 20, 2011The chicken/coleslaw salad is so good. Kale potato soup is amazing for snowy days.
- Iced coffee is great for summer and the peppermint patty is amazing in the winter!
- MixedBunnyJanuary 5, 2011Very cute brunch spot with fun menu items! Their fresh juice bar is a must try
- The back/side door in the room with all the tables doesn't open; despite the postit that says so, 95% of patrons will try unsuccessfully.
- Maxime KolinoOctober 13, 2014Be careful! They're really able to spoil your day charging $55 tips from $6 order and fixing it pretty lame if (!) you suddenly notice it. Bad coffee. Soy milk just made it worse. My last time there.
- Not a big fan if this spot. New owners but everything is the same. Good when there are no other options in the hood and u don't want go the manhattan ave
- Wifi is now limited to number of hours versus the amount of money you spend (I.e $10 for 2 hours of wifi.) It's stupid slow and shows crazy packet loss. Time to find a new place to work, over it.
- Tara TaraSeptember 25, 2014I have officially stopped going here because of the untrained staff and their disappointing (lousy) espresso drinks. Do not - I repeat - do not order anything made w/ espresso or you will regret it.
- The veggie sausage breakfast burrito is dope and cost-effective!
- Try the orange brioche, it's light and fluffy but also filled with the glorious sin of gooey custard!
- try the quiche with a soy chai and sit outside with friends. Great Brunch!
- Stumptown coffee until 11pm everynight and the Eggplant Panini is to die for.
- Stumptown coffee until 11pm everynight! Eggplant panini is to die for.
- Note that the hours are only 'til 9pm, despite what these other tips say.
- Sydney S. KimMarch 19, 2011don't get anything besides beverages and baked goods. also, needs a music change!
- Maria StanishevaSeptember 14, 2013Owners have changed, use to like cafe Royal way better...backyard was total mess, not goi g back any time soon
- Marc C.September 9, 2015There's a bunch of tips about their food, but turns out they just had bagels when we came. :/
- Laurie BurkittJuly 9, 2010Stick to the drinks here. The food, while it looks appetizing and so promising, leaves much to be desired. Portions are small and the flavor doesn't warrant the prices. Coffee, however, is fantastic!
