- Dan LamDecember 21, 2014Great local coffee spot. The coffee baristas are chipper and nice despite the Grumpy title. The coffee is one of the best tasting coffee in NYC. Totally worth it.
- Great, flavorful coffee roasted on premises. Large, communal tables in the back, quiet, library-like atmosphere makes it ideal for bringing a laptop and getting some work done.

- They roast their own coffee here, and they're usually great. Try a guest espresso or pourover and a treat baked by them on the Lower East Side. A good number of plugs but sometimes overwhelmed wifi.

- Ashley MowreyJuly 26, 2017It's true to cafe grumpy fashion, it's a rustic designed cafe with limited seating and the same good quality coffee. Nothing remarkable per se, but good.
- Ryan JorgensonNovember 6, 2014Great place to buy freshly roasted, quality beans (Malacara makes a rich, smooth cup), and the baristas can prepare anything fancy you'd like.
- Sibel AkcekayaMarch 5, 2016Great work/study environment as it is on the very quiet street..Good coffee and very spacious and gets lots of light
- All of the baristas are awesome minus the rude glasses/big hair lady. I asked for more chocolate in my cocoa, told me how "they do it" & then proceeded to shoot tons of syrup in the cup. Thanks, jerk.
- Serious EatsApril 19, 2013The last shop standing of the four-store Grumpy empire to allow computer use, this neighborhoody spot is often as quiet as a library on weekends.
- Great people with a lot of space to work and of course great coffee.
- GNTLMNJanuary 22, 2013Famous in the coffee shop working community long before it became famous through HBO's Girls. Greenpoint haunt with top coffee and tea, big tables, pleasant vibe.
- NearSay NYCJuly 25, 2011Brewed to order, it's the best cup of coffee you'll find in the area hands down! Try their Ethiopian bean in a macchiato for a intensely fruity cup.
- Peter LindbergAugust 26, 2014I like their coffee beans. Cappuccino was quite well made. Really liked the black pepper/cardamom banana bread.
- KIT TENAugust 31, 2010Miss the brownies from red hook, but you can still get em down the street @ a rival coffee shop . Still i love BOTH places. But this is the place to relax, yes its possible .......caffeinne and all...

- Spacious cafe, back room has lots of communal tables.
- Best espressos I've had in Brooklyn or Manhattan. This ain't no cookie cutter Starbucks.
- Roasts its own beans behind the shop + lots of room to work + free wifi!
- Chelsea CarterNovember 16, 2012Not a lot of places to relax and stretch out, but very good drip coffee and great service!
- Don't be a chump. Order a Gibralter off menu like a boss.
- HBOAugust 9, 2012Girls happened here. Hannah donned pants with “a slim leg” and joined Ray as a barista at this BK coffee spot.
- The Corcoran GroupAugust 27, 2010Great coffee and great professional service! Try the coffee from Guatemala with a pumpkin cream cheese muffin.
- Try the Giabralter, an off menu special, and my go to drink at Grumpy.
- Just put a Revenge From Mars in 3D machine in the back by the roasters! $0.50 a game // 3 games for $1.00.
- streng New YorkMay 15, 2012The espresso is fantastic and the staff is friendly. Best coffee in Greenpoint.
- Michael LeungSeptember 29, 2011Trivia: the owner saw a lot of cafes that served average coffee with happy people inside. He decided to do the opposite. Good coffee with grumpy people inside : )
- Great coffee, pastries, muffins, and veggie sandwiches. Plus some decent art hanging on the walls which rotate periodically.
- Amanda CrawfordMarch 11, 2012Thanks for the tasty coffee, and letting me use your wifi when I was unemployed and the internet hadn't been set up at my new apartment.
- Sensible SocialiteSeptember 16, 2015Good coffee but the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm yelling in a library.
