For a classic Viennese experience, make sure to stop here for the delicious pastries (chocolate cake is fantastic), coffee and incredible ambiance after taking in Klimt's masterpieces next-door.

Like stepping back in time; Order a real kaffé creme, crêpes with apricot jam, lox on brown bread, and the spaetzle. You'll never know the great disservice you've done yourself if you skip dessert.

Pricey place, but it's Upper East, after all! Nice dining room and good waiters. Cake was excellent (I tried the Adele). Coffee also good. Eggs on creamed spinach w potatoes tasty lighter option.

Amazing for a date. Coffee/tea and dessert recommended. Desserts are delightfully decadent. Espresso is perfected. Also, the bookstore - gorgeous, excellent and varied selection.

Want to listen to some classical music, see Austrian aristocracy and taste warm, delicious Apfel Strudel in the morning? Very traditional Viennese cafe. Go for authentic Bratwurst after 11!

The deco is very European. the Kaiser pancake is what Ido came for after having had it in Vienna. But the apple strudel with whipped cream and coffee, Wonderful service, and such a delightful setting.

A European style cafe with Viennese food, pastry and coffee specialities accompanied with great chamber music. I found coffee a bit pricey but food is quite affordable.

The desserts might be the highlight: typical ones (apple strudel, quark cheesecake) sit comfortably next to authentic Austrian fare such as mozarttorte, a chocolate cake with pistachio and nougat. Read more

For dessert the chilled coffee mit ice cream and whipped cream, and the shredded crepes soufflé with fruit compote were both excellent. The classic Viennese chocolate cake and the latte were ok.

Extremely expensive but also truly authentic from the decor to the wait staff to the food. If you're planning on treating yourself this is a great place to do it — otherwise go to the downstairs cafe.

Nestled inside the Neue Gallerie is a little piece of old Vienna. You should wait on line to break the diet with a Wiener Eiskaffee and Apfelstrudel or Sachertorte.

Give your waiter back the menu and say the words "apple strudel". You will want to order as many as you can afford... You're welcome.

Great atmosphere, although there's often a wait. My usual is weisswurst (which comes with a warm soft pretzel), strong coffee, and a slice of sachertorte.
