Burger Joint · Downtown Santa Monica · 26 tips and reviews
Chris Cookson: My favorite burger in LA. This location has gotten crowded over the last few years. I'd recommend downloading the HiHo app and placing a pick-up order. Browse the promenade in the meantime.

Indie Movie Theater · 45 tips and reviews
Chris Cookson: Try to arrive at least an hour before gates open, once you make your way through the gates head to the right side of the screen in the front. It's the least crowded. Photo booth photos are free online
American Restaurant · Mid-City West · 15 tips and reviews
Chris Cookson: What a wonderful place with a phenomenal vibe. I love Roscoe's a lot but the waffles here are enough to push this place maybe just ahead in my mind. Seasoning could compliment syrup more though.
Caribbean Restaurant · Ocean Park · 172 tips and reviews
Chris Cookson: Prices are a little bit high for what you get but easily one of the best eats off to the side of the Pier. I normally go for the coconut fried chicken but their rice and plantains are superb as well.
Chris Cookson: There is a second location a little further down the boardwalk, the prices are a bit cheaper there but they don't have seating. If doing take out worth the extra five minute walk.
Toy Store · Downtown Santa Monica · 10 tips and reviews
Chris Cookson: Cheap prices and a wonderful assortment of toys, games and pop culture knick knacks. They even sell some new-in-box vintage Star Wars toys.
Chris Cookson: a smaller museum that you can go through in 20-30 minutes but a lot of great stuff. Focuses on the intersection between socially conscious fine art, history and music. Home to many great events too!
Chris Cookson: Ran under the same ownership since the 1960s, a quintessential no frills slice with a perfectly crispy crust. Peter Parker's ass was fired from here at the beginning of Spider-Man 2.
Hot Dog Joint · Newfield - Westover - Turn of River · 19 tips and reviews
Chris Cookson: a great dive off to the side of a busy shopping center. Has a great variety of dogs for pretty reasonable prices. A good complement to the chili dogs at Wedge Inn.
Chris Cookson: I'm always very partial to the hot oil pizza! Parking is deceptively limited so check what hours are enforced at the train station across the street.

Donut Shop · 208 tips and reviews
Chris Cookson: a Los Angeles icon, you can see the giant donut from the plane when you land at LAX. Get a box of a dozen donuts and try a variety of them. A great pairing after stopping by Roscoe's.
Indie Movie Theater · Wilshire-Montana · 17 tips and reviews
Chris Cookson: A wonderful little indie theater with one huge screening room. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for free screenings and events. Fairly easy to attend pre-screenings due to size and location.
