From Florida City (or the Top of the Keys) to Key West. The trip from MM 106 (Mile Marker) to Key West can take three plus hours. This is a list of Keys, Bars, Restaurants and a Hotel or two. Enjoy
Dan Murphy: Top bar/restaurant on your drive into the keys - complete with music. Right on the mangroves, so who cares if it's raining! The road to Alabama Jack's is fast, but two-lane. So drive safe.
Dan Murphy: Since the upgrade to Overseas Highway, Gilbert's has become a viable alternative to Alabama Jack's as we enter the keys. View of the water, good food, music, TV screens for the game. Rustic.
Dan Murphy: Snorkling tours go out of here, but for the record, you can also drive down the road for a broader selection. The self-snorkeling tour of sunken ships was a bit lame (sorry.)
Dan Murphy: Best microbrew selection in the keys. Location off US1 makes it harder to find by the tourists. Seafood is as close to the source as you'll find; meaning Fresh Fish. I enjoyed the Tacos & Taquitos.
Dan Murphy: Good for a nice (real) coffee - not the 'branded' kind next door! Liquor store next door has a robust selection, but best prices are at Walgreens (by about ~15%.)
Dan Murphy: Great food. Glass "floor boards" so you can see the fish below you as you dine. The management also gives the (big and small) kids food for the fish. You'll have to use a Map to find - it's off US1

Dan Murphy: Great stop for a Key Lime Pie to go north to the mainland. (Which is NOT to say, the rest of the menu leaves anything to be desired... it doesn't.)
Dan Murphy: This property has been a Westin, a Sheraton, non-denominational, and is now a Hilton. What's next.Nice beach with sports rentals on property. Adult/Kids pool with bar and live music away from Gulf
Dan Murphy: Want a REAL home-cooked breakfast? This is the place. Bisquits are fresh out of the oven. And the people serving are some of the nicest people in the world. And why not? They live in the Keys!
Dan Murphy: On the ocean (not the best sunset view) with good, fresh seafood. The prices reflect good (not spectacular) food with live music and a view of the water. Worthy of my list of Keys venues.
Dan Murphy: May not look like much from the new Tavernier bridge to a tourist, but the people cooking the fare on this menu do it proud. The eggs benedict dishes appeared to be the most well liked (breakfast.)
Dan Murphy: Beach, Playground, Facilities - for a fee (unless you show a Islamorada hotel key.) If you're just playing soccer or basketball, park near A1A outside of the guard gate and walk on.
Dan Murphy: Sister property to Pierre's sharing the same white sand. Nightly live music. The shared pier is used as one stop on the annual charity "golf" tournament. Your golf cart is your boat - bar to bar.
Dan Murphy: Ocean View - typically not crowded. But nice place to stop. Grab a beer and try to put the ring on a hook (they used to have the hook game at the Taurus in Coconut Grove and on Bimini. Alas No Mas!
Dan Murphy: Aside from the man-made white sand beach at Morada Bay & Pierre's, this is probably the best beach you'll find in Upper, Middle and Lower Keys.
