AIRLINK coach is the best and only option to consider to get into the city centre (30mins). £6 for return trip, free wifi onboard the coach and plug sockets to charge your phone too. Perfect.
The new security hall works quite well if you're not an idiot and move your bins to the repack-and-sort-yourself-out tables after the scanners. Be proactive!
make sure you have plenty money if you are taking your car as the pickup and drop off charges are attrocious. £4 for 10 minutes to drop someone off..unless they can do a ten minute walk
They want you to pay to use a locker to charge your phone. No thank you. You can usually find an outlet behind a rubbish bin. You have to sit on the floor, but better than paying £1.50 for 30 mins.
To avoid the scandalous £1 fee (£5 after 10 mins) to drop off / pick up, use the FREE dropoff area. Keep to the left lane, and take the first left after you pass the Spitfire. AlmondRoad. Read more
Domestic arrivals is probably the worst you will find in the UK. First you have to fight your way through the entire departure lounge, then 3 flights of stairs - no escalators.
Incredibly illogically laid out, made to walk miles for what should be shortest of journeys. Overly commercialised, inadequate seating. Dictatorial staff. Dreadful security area. Worst airport in UK

Early flight into EDI? Grab a coffee before leaving to collect your bag to save queuing at the Costa in arrivals. Is worth the wait though. Fast service
Total chaos. Signs incorrectly direct you (eg the international arrivals area 1 and 2, they both point out into the street when they are at opposite ends of the building).
If you're travelling with unprocessed film, you should know they can be safely examined by x-ray machines without suffering ill effects.(It was previously advised to check them in).
Wow. Security was some sort of fantasy of efficiency. Points off though for the officious way I was selected for "random" security screening. Boarding the plane felt like a prisoner transfer.
The security staff are so rude; definitely in need of training in interpersonal and communication skills. They created a real sour end to our trip to Scotland.
Airlink is the quickest way into town for £6 return but normal Lothian Buses although not as frequent are only £3 for a whole day of use and give you the ability to travel all over Edinburgh
EDI has only 1 terminal. Checking in and bag drop is slower - fewer counters. Security screening flags lot of bags but most times nothing is found. Arrive early! Lounge is very average.
