Dead during daytime; don’t be fooled. Fresh, healthy meze & top notch meats make this my default spot in Istanbul for a variety of occasions and appetites. Nice service. Clean environment.
Great pedicure (~40 USD). 1 hr massage was intense (~100 USD). Great facilities: steam, sauna, pools, etc. Very attentive & personal service. Generally a good to great resort spa.
Pricey, high-end, gastro ($250+ pp w/ drinks, for what I think is lunch?). Truly impressive service! We hung out for hours, they waited, no pressure. Even made a prix fixe menu dairyless on the spot.
Convenient, comfortable, yet budget (~$85/night) hotel in dwtn Tulum. Yes, a bit of street noise, but it’s the city! Best staff I’ve encountered in MX: genuinely helpful, not greedy. No frills here :)
For ~$85/night, this is a steal if you’re looking to stay near Cancun airport. Big rooms, nearly all junior “suites” or so. USB-A & C plugs everywhere, great lighting, private terraces. Infinity pool!
Pleasant surprise! Bit pricey, but quality is above average, certainly for middle of nowhere Cancun area. Not worth detour, but certainly a visit if staying @ Hive. Insist on tip even if taking to-go?
What a pleasant surprise. Amazing coffee service (chemex, v60, espresso, etc). Food is a mix of local & Spanish (think pan tumaca, tortilla española), delicious. Drank lots of coffee & ate for 2: €20!
Great seafood, amazing oysters. Loved the flan. Generally a 7/10 experience all around. Waiters need to be trained on menu, particularly wine list. Personally inspected & sent back 2 btls, awkward!
To be honest, a bit pretentious. That said, one of the more thoughtful cafés in Athens. Minimalist, deliberate design. Very crafty. They do it their way, and it’s good. Good addition to Plaka.
1 of the only (if not the only) spots to source proper fresh sourdough loaves in Athens. Mostly sweets (e.g. pastel de nata, cakes, tarts, etc), no croissants as far as I can tell, but amazing bread.
Georgios runs a real passion project. Family run affair. Everything on menu: fresh. Shrimp in black bean paste! All for ~15€ / plate. A true Greek xp vs Santorini proper. Alcohol: touch over priced.
The best pastel de nata in Porto, but sweeter & juicier than the original at Lisbon’s Pastéis de Belém (whose are better). Amazing café, even serving V60 & chemex. Hipster / modern vibes.
Nearly close to perfect “outside of Italy” Italian experience. These guys are a gem along the Porto coast. Homemade wood-fired dough & pizza; Italian drinks; & decent prices. A (rough) gem in Espinho!
Patient, hospitable, & exceptionally informative. You will get tipsy (5 glasses per tasting). Focused on the ports / wines themselves vs literal production tours. Easy to snag a spot, for a price :)
At least 15 tables for 4 outside, & yet gets crowded after 10pm. Great service & drinks. Amazing Bloody Mary. Top choice for an outdoor cocktail evening w/out the anxiety, snobs, or young riff-raff.
Simple, to the point, well priced. Huge menu. Carpaccio & Bruschetta: basic yet flavorful. Pastas are excellent. Down to earth, homemade, “local” cuisine. They accept card (!). Digestivo on the house.
Expensive, but not overpriced: ~€100pp for food. Amazing ceviche & sake selection. Great sushi. Service is a little hectic/lost. Will be back for table for 4! Good for dates. Very hip/chic, worth it.
No longer owned by strip club across the street. Selection of clams/mussels in white wine garlic sauce was excellent. Not cheap but if you stick to fresh seafood you’re in for a treat! Good service.
