HISTORY UK • February 10, 2011This ancient Egyptian obelisk was made in Heliopolis c.1475 BC, and presented as a gift by the Turkish Viceroy of Egypt in 1819. After a dangerous and difficult sea-voyage, it was put up here in 1879.
