Airport originally named Moisant Field after aviator John Moisant (died in crash 1910), later Moisant Stock Yards, hence, MSY. Renamed in 2001 to honor 100th anniversary of Armstrongs birth

The bathrooms by the Lost & Found in Concourse C are a relic of the pre-9/11 security setup, get no foot traffic, and are much cleaner than typical airport bathrooms.

Concourse B has decent food. Lucky Dogs, Praline Express, and Live Oaks are some local options. The Magnificent Burger from Jester's was pretty good, and huge to boot.

Make sure you’re lined up in the right security lane for your gate, even for TSA Pre-check. Otherwise you’ll have to go through security all over again!

You can grab beer or wine from a lil place across gate b7 and take it to drink @ your terminal! No need to sit @ the bar.

Probably a good idea to be in 2 hours early as you never know how the security check is going to be .. !!

Great souvenir shopping, but eat before you get here. There is no good good in here at all. But the drinks at the bakery at B9 are fabulous

Small airport with not a lot of services but you can get through security quickly and it’s never a long walk to your gate.

If you are checking through TSA pre-check you don't have to remove shoes, belts, or take laptops out. Funny that so many still do despite signs .

Not many food options past security (at least in the Southwest terminal). Keep that in mind if you're fighting a vicious Bourbon Street hangover.

Bright airport, looks like a shopping mall. Big enough, but easy to navigate and very passenger friendly. Could be busy at the weekends, expect long lines. 25min/35-40USD taxi ride away.

Apart from having one of the slowest TSA ID Check Lines, the baggage claim is surprisingly pretty fast and easy to get to, unlike other airports.

Heading downtown? Go to the departure level and catch the E2 bus. It’s $2 per person and it only adds about 15 minutes to your ride.

When checking in at concourse B, choose the left line. The one on the right looks shorter but it wraps around. The left is a straight shot.

I hate to say anything bad about a place with Louis Armstrong's name on it, but this is the lamest big city airport I've ever been to. Just a whole lot of nothing once you go through security.

Concourse C has little worth eating—an employee at the Zatarain's literally told me nothing was good. Don't expect to survive on anything but water & snacks, sprinkled with gross fatty southern fare.

TSA at MSY is ridiculous! Why 1 person is checking boarding passes and 3 "watching" when there are 50+ people in line makes 0 sense to me. My advice is get there early / in plenty of time!

Nice airport and TSA didn’t take too long; but it was EXTREMELY cold for needing to wait 6 hours overnight. Maybe put in some sleeping lofts like they have in Japan (paid, of course, by the hour).
