- Gorgeous and spacious venue with good sound. Floor seats are the way to go, but you'll have a great time from any seat. Ridiculously easy to get to via BART.
- Chelsea OtakanJune 20, 2014One of the best venues I've ever been to. If you're short, there are two areas with steps on the main floor to try to grab a spot with a good view. Do it during the openers!Upvoted Mar 23
- Awesome tiered floor. If you’re short (like me), you can probably see the stage if you just stand a bit farther back. Love the decorations here too!
- Kendal CockrelAugust 15, 2018Dope venue, super close to BART. It's huge inside so if you're going for a talk or standup routine, it might be worth it to get seats closer to the front.
- Beautiful concert venue. Easy to access. Great food. Try the grilled cheese in the Den!
- Bob KrofchikJune 29, 2014Beautifully restored venue with all the amenities you would expect. Don't let the location worry you, the neighbor felt safe and was free of the expected "urban decay."
- Justin BarnesSeptember 5, 2012Gorgeous restored theater, one of the old original Fox theaters with incredible ceilings and architecture of its day. The sound is not up to par for true audiophiles but it's a gorgeous venue. Try it
- Autumn KhattarJanuary 9, 2020Saw Portugal. The Man. And it was brilliant! This is my second favorite venue now! Love it, the sound was exceptional
- The balcony seats are very spacious, comfortable, and have cup holders in the armrests. A very nice alternative when you're not in the mood to elbow through the crowd.
- Tim HMarch 22, 20161 of my favorite venues. Food, parking, BART make it easy.Seating in the loge & mezzanine preferred. Balcony leg room is cramped. Art deco!!
- Ashley MowreyNovember 19, 2017They have some amazing artists pop through here, but it’s a small space so keep up with their calendar because seats sell fast.
- One on the best music venues around. Love the GA experience on the first floor. Great food and drink options near by.
- Bobby WinterMarch 12, 2017Beautiful movie house converted to a concert venue. Here enjoying Spafford and Umphrey's McGee.
- Convenient to SF by way of the BART, Fox Theatre is one of the larger venues here. Balcony is a no-go here, but the terraced floor has amazing views.
- Laura LNovember 17, 2013Great music venue in the uptown district of Oakland. Conveniently located off the 19th BART station. Great places around for a quick bite before the show.
- LucieferNovember 9, 2014I absolutely love this venue. It's beautiful, well kept, sound is great, and the talent that comes through is top-shelf.
- Tania MartinezSeptember 6, 2015Great venue for concerts with an amazing architecture, don't miss the ornamental ceiling it's beautiful.
- Madeleine EnglisSeptember 29, 2013This is one of the coolest concert venues! Looks kind of like a broadway theater. Get the floor tickets though, balcony is too removed.
- Great venue - best air circulation in the Bay but parking can sometimes be a beast.
- Dario FernandezOctober 20, 2012Get drunk before you get here. Booz is too much. And bring some peeps, girls are too young here! ;) And enjoy, acoustics are awesome!
- ZipcarJune 6, 2011No matter who’s coming through town, be it the National or Annie Lennox, they’ve got to stop in at the Fox. Zip there and take in the sights of the Uptown district in Oakland.
- Steve RubinMarch 22, 2016They get a lot of great bands but the acoustics and mixing are really, really disappointing. I always leave feeling a little bummed out.
- The box office is open on performance dates. Good for getting tickets without paying the online convenience fees.
- You can find/buy champagne from the Den and walk it into the fox! Generous pours, too (a whole mini selfsize champagne bottle!)
- Ian WalterOctober 14, 2014Favorite venue in the Bay Area. Beautiful theater, good sound. Get GA/ floor.
- Jason MartinDecember 10, 2016What a beautiful space. It's too bad they continue to get the sound wrong. The performers sound like a garbled mess half the time.
- Cristal FernandezDecember 23, 2011HH pub crawl quick tips: not the best happy hour in the city..$1off, $2 off certain drinks doesn't do to much for me!..not many ppl.. On the bright side, has a great open space
- tony rochaFebruary 26, 2015When it's hot in the Fox, stand over one of the many vents in the floor to cool your junk.
- Tracy RugglesFebruary 21, 2014for any show, be sure to get close to the stage... away from the morons in the back who won't stop their yapping through every f'in song
- They certainly don't make theaters like this anymore. Beautifully restored art deco-ish interior...great place to catch a concert!
- Fernando CastellanosApril 19, 2014Awesome theater definitely the best one that I've seen in the bay area
- Get something to eat in The Den and bring it inside if you want. Take a drink to your seat in the balcony. Ask an usher where the smoking areas are.
- MaryellenMarch 27, 2013This beautifully renovated theater attracts some really great acts. I got really great seats through Ticketmaster.
- The teenagers here are extra frisky but the sound and lights are generally excellent. Great photos can be taken in the pit.
- LuxurylatteOctober 10, 2013FYI... Better to be safe then sorry. Don't park in neighboring back lots. It's a scam and your car will be boxed in and the "attendants" long gone.
- shauna sampsonOctober 23, 2009The Fox Theater is the best of the restored mid-size performance venues in the bay area. Get there early and get a drink in the restored bar, marvel at the twin golden statuary with glowing eyes when
