- Hidden down a back alley in the Lower East Side, Freeman's is definitely one of the cutest restaurants in New York City. You MUST order the artichoke dip. It's truly incredible.Upvoted 9 hours ago
- J CrowleyOctober 24, 2014Solid lunch spot. Chicken sandwich is great but hold the honey mustard. Ask for chipotle mayo instead. Side of fries cause they're perfect... and another side of chipotle mayo for those fries. Trust.
- Simon KratzerFebruary 10, 2017Their English breakfast is a heavy and delicious dish. The restaurant is quite spacious with two floors. Still be prepared for a 1h wait on weekends.
- the venison stew along with a bourbon is just right for a cold, snowy evening. side tip: they've also got great private rooms for group dinners.
- Sung HwangFebruary 8, 2016Get the artichoke dip!! The best. The portions not that big if youre looking for a bigger brunch. But you can always order more things :) The interior design is super cute esp the 2nd floor.
- allisonMarch 7, 2015Tucked away in the back of a dark alley, is this cool spot with yummy mac and cheese, pork belly hush puppies, spinach dip, crazy horseradish cheddar toast, and filet mignon.
- M TSeptember 22, 2013Definitely the artichoke dip is a must anytime. I don't know why anyone hasn't said this but the Pork sandwich is amazing! And a must! Come at the end of brunch if you don't want to wait.
- Ivy MahsciaoJune 10, 2015It's a magical rabbit hole you wanna fall into. Tell the amazing bar(wo)man what tickles your fancy and get a delightful treat off the menu. All dishes are amazing, especially the artichoke dip.
- SabrinaJune 21, 2015This place feels like you've been transformed out of NYC. Super romantic vibe. Sit at one of the two bars for a delicious cocktail and order the artichoke dip. Definitely the cutest alley in NYC.
- Trae FJuly 12, 2015Love it here. The Freeman's cocktail, pork belly sliders, and hot artichoke dip are delicious. Ask for some hot sauce to add a nice kick to the dip.
- Benjamin JohanssonAugust 20, 2014When you're in Nolita or even visiting the new museum, this is the place to have lunch/dinner! I recommend getting a burger, but I assume everything is good at Freemans.
- New York HabitatNovember 4, 2011Come early, it can get busy here. Definitely get the Devils on Horseback which consists of dates stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon, then broiled until crispy. Need we say more?
- Ray LinMay 8, 2015Follow me down this alley...no really, I swear it's safe. And actually beautifully decorated and delicious. The artichoke dip is a must-app, and the pork belly sandwich with cole slaw is perfect.
- KidhackNovember 21, 2021Classic restaurant with dark woods and taxidermy lodge vibes. They have a great cocktail program with modern American fare. They offer private dining options and have a 2nd floor bar, Banzarbar.
- Marie La RueMay 5LES New American institution tucked at the end of Freemans Alley. Always delivers on atmosphere and flavors. Excellent brunch options and bar program.
- Adam RedstoneAugust 15, 2016Everything we got for lunch - spiced lamb burger, avocado and quinoa salad and Devils on horseback (bacon wrapped prunes stuffed with goat cheese). Plus the cocktails! Will def be back!
- Diego AnellApril 10, 2017The wait can be a little long but the food makes up for it easily. Definitely have the artichoke dip. Menu rotates every 4 months based on what's in season!
- Conrad Greiner-BechertMay 9, 2017Cozy would be a euphemism to describe how narrow tables are stacked together where we sat. The Lamb & Pork Merguez Meatballs and Grilled Lamb Chops were worth it though. Could be romantic with a date.
- Natalie LiuOctober 12, 2017Full English Breakfast is nuts! Perfect place for brunch, very cozy and amazing foods. Highly recommend
- Nate BeattyApril 25, 2015Reminds me of a favorite farm-to-table place in VT. Amazing atmosphere and the brunch dish with poached eggs over kale is so satisfying.
- Meredith BlechmanMay 9, 2015Coziest spot with tons of character. Lots of different rooms like an old house, with great decor. Get spinach artichoke dip for the table and thank me later. Great private rooms for parties.
- Diana GalvisApril 8, 2015Great seasonal cocktails. Try the spinach and cheese dip, it's good for 2, has a lot bread. I went alone and the bar tender made it very amiable for me. Cozy place. Love the decor.
- Danny TrejoJanuary 15, 2016Can't go wrong with anything you order here. The filet and salmon special is excellent. The restaurant has a great ambiance, perfect for a personal date or a business dinner.
- All around solid spot - be it brunch, dinner or just cocktails at the bar. Perhaps a less known fact: this place is GREAT for private parties! Lots of rooms to accommodate for any size!
- Burgerspotting .seNovember 11, 2014A good hamburger on a cool and cozy place. The meat is juicy but could use a little more seasoning. Plenty of tasty and fresh pickles that I love. The bread is soft, but cold. Rating 8 out of 10.
- NickJune 23, 2015Take your friends from out of town here - they'll be impressed at what a sophisticated New Yorker you've become. Order the house cocktail and admire the taxidermy.
- Eliza KNovember 8, 2013One of my favorite brunch spots in the city. Awesome food, great brunchy cocktails, and a cool, interesting environment. Poke around to take in all the taxidermy and vintage items.
- Victoria NatenzonMay 3, 2014Amazing date spot. Hard to find, but once you do it feels like a hidden gem. I would recommend going for drinks and light bites. The dinner menu was not one of my favorites.
- Thibaut PerneyJune 15, 2019Artichokes Dip is a great and - shareable - appetizer, don’t get in there by yourself, bring your friends in! BEC Bk toast will make you melt like butter.
- Grace YoonOctober 30, 2022Their Artichoke Dips are to die for, this is a must-try as an appetizer / shareable dish to have alongside other mains! 😍
- Favorite brunch spot in the city. Get poached eggs w/tomato, white cheddar grits, & bacon. Best lighter fare is homemade granola w/local Greek yogurt & berries. Serving La Colombe coffee here - yum!
- Claudia ColonnaMay 7, 2015Atmosphere is an amazing creation. All food was very good. Nothing mind blowing but good. The staff on the other hand makes you feel unwelcome and not warm. For house setting I would want the opposite
- Jaimee EstrellerJanuary 18, 2015Brunch aka expect a long wait, but can order at the bar. Good, but overpriced, bloody mary. The buttermilk biscuit with a fried egg, bacon, and cheese is pretty legit. I'd go every now and then.
- MarthaMarch 7, 2015there's so much to live here. rooms are sexy, staff is great, drinks are delicious and food is wonderful. one of my favorite places to have fun. highly recommended.
- Stuart DuncanOctober 2, 2016Low light, buzzing atmos. Lovely staff, sublime cocktails. Artichoke dip is sensational. Shame the fillet mignon was unseasoned - melt in the mouth but flavourless. Pork belly & beans YUM!
- Matthew MalecJune 24, 2017The chicken breast is 🔥🔥🔥, so is the artichoke dip, and the location, and the decor, this place is 👌👌👌
- DmtrAugust 24, 2015Lively and nice atmosphere (good for dates). I loved the chicken breast; the chocolate brownie dessert with ice cream was more than finger-licking good!!!
- What's Good HereAugust 8, 2014Be sure to order the devils on horseback (bacon wrapped dates). This LES favorite is a great place to get together with friends for good food and drinks.
- Chris GuimarinDecember 18, 2016The food, cocktails and atmosphere are amazing! Definitely get the artichoke dip and the devils on horseback!
- New York PRMarch 29, 2014Wasn't a fan of the Bloody Mary, but the bartender is a pro mixologist. No almond milk or soy milk for lattes. The white salad on the appetizer menu was excellent and enough for a meal.
- LeiaAugust 29, 2015Tricky place to find! Very chill atmosphere. Frank the bartender is such a sweetheart! Order their artichoke dip! We ordered seconds ;)!
- Michelle WilesApril 29, 2016Trout is a whole fish, no sides. So load up on sides because it's delicious
- GeorgJanuary 3, 2016The food was great! Even the macaroni n cheese was delightful and high-class! Great wine and hip atmosphere!
- Eric VenkerDecember 11, 2014Really great skillet eggs and cocktails. Come with more than 2 people and expect to wait a good while in a not-so-friendly waiting space. Super good french fries.
- Abbie StevensonAugust 16, 2013Very cool vibe. Awesome taxidermy on the walls. The decor feels like you're in a barn hidden from the city. The maple candy walnut fruit Sunday will blow your mind. Try it.
- Ina LiFebruary 2, 2015Always my favorite in the alley. Genuine food and great decoration. Second floor private rooms are awesome
- Angela HughesDecember 10, 2022This place is amazing! You feel like you’ve left Manhattan. Food is incredible! Devils on Horseback delish starter then the Cod! Yummm!!!
