- ChicagoistAugust 1, 2014The only movie complex in the whole downtown area that still projects film. That gives the Siskel the kind of flexibility that makes their fare so eclectic. Read more
- Dana JensenDecember 28, 2014Well-curated selection of foreign and independent films right next to the Lake red line. Get a membership if you go see a movie at least once a month!
- Lisa ZimmerAugust 21, 2013Check in on a Monday or Tuesday for the special: 2-for-1 tickets, free soda, free popcorn. It's like $18 worth of free stuff. Good for a cheap date night: intimate theater, comfy seats.
- I love that they host events like the Black Harvest Film Festival but they have the most horrible seats. Folks end up literally between your legs because they lean back so far
- PortlandiaJuly 27, 20112 Thumbs Up! Enjoy the best of independent, international and classic cinema at the Gene Siskell Film Center with a side of great film exhibits and treats at the gallery and café.
- Pros: The films are great, as are the prices (if you're a member or a student), and they sell beer. Cons: The seats aren't very comfy and the entrance smells like pee.
- Amazing schedule of first run films, retrospectives, and special programs. It's worth the money to be a member
- Travel + LeisureFebruary 21, 2014A state-of-the-art theater that screens independent, international, and classic films.
- Bryce JensenDecember 2, 2014Great filmmaker lecture series and one of the only theaters that still tries to show actual film.
- Chicago Cultural Plan 2012January 23, 2012Sign up for the newsletter! If you can't make it 2 a show, it's a great goto recommendation list when DVD hunting!
- Jenn ZinkhonAugust 12, 2015Sadly, when the popcorn isn't good, it kind of ruins the movie going experience. However, they do screen a wonderfully diverse selection of films.
- The membership here is totally worth it. $5 movies and 4 free popcorns is worth the $50 or so price tag. Best movie house in Chicago in my opinion: programming and venue.
- Flavorpill ChicagoMarch 13, 2011Catch forgotten gems, art-house experiments, local features & fascinating docs. You’d be tempted to call them populist, but the intelligent line-ups never pander.
- WalgreensJanuary 9, 2012Fresh hand-rolled sushi and sashimi prepared daily... Check out the all new Walgreens at State and Randolph!
- Diego RufoMarch 28, 2011It’s really a great juxtaposition of big cinema comfort – stadium seating, comfy seats, and nice screens – with interesting, hard to find cinema. Read more

- Steven GowinSeptember 13, 2011Popcorn has nasty palm butter, but tastes good. They'll try to tell you palm butter is ok. Tastes good but lethal.
