MuratOctober 2, 2016In the heart of the city; always busy and always crowded. Very big hub for both N and S bounds. Very touristic. Good restaurants are available inside. Metro stops as well other than intercity trains.
In 12/12, the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar completed a $450K renovation, in time for GC's 2013 centennial. 200 Gustavino tiles were replaced and 1600 re-set in the 2300-sq-ft gallery.
Built from 1903-1913 GCT is a marvel of engineering and architecture. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service in 1976.
Andy WolfeMarch 10, 2015It's not just a station! You can get lost in this amazing piece of American history and with a nice food court downstairs its a good meeting spot in New York.
Always get breakfast at Grand Central Market. The service is glacial and the staff are far from friendly, but for a grab and go egg sandwich and iced tea for the trip it's the way to go.

At Least when your taking the Metro North you don't have to wait and see what track the next train will arrive on unlike Penn Station.

Not as painful as Penn, but please Tourists, for the love of God, stand to the side to take your photos! I get that it's gorgeous, but I still have a job and meeting to get to!
The Queen of train stations in the city. Come by and look up at the roof and Windows in the main hall. The lower dining concourse offers everything from burgers to oysters to healthy fare.

Don't miss out on the beautiful sights around you, or the tasty bites to eat--a favorite of mine is the Taste of NY shop.
A must for me on every trip to NYC. If you have time, take the audio tour. It takes about an hour and is so worth it. You'll learn so much. Then have a cocktail after and people watch!
Try the food court downstairs. Awesome place to people watch. Also for an eclectic bar experience go to Campbell Apartments on the third floor Entrance is trough Cipriani
GaryApril 16, 2013One of the most breathtaking train terminals in the world. Definitely stroll through the main hall at least once, and don't forget to look up!
If you are buying tickets, go to a vending machine. It will go much faster. This is a beautiful building where you have decent dining and shopping options unlike Penn
The guides tour takes you behind the scenes to an alternate Earth (aka Earth 2) where airships are the the primary mode of transportation.

Jade L.January 6, 2013What I learned today: FDR discretely entered NYC via a secret underground platform with an elevator that directly led to the Waldorf Astoria. All of which is beneath this glamorous terminal.
Grab a beer and a bag of chips, under 8 bucks, a deal that can't be beat!
the lighting is always superb. the lighting it always 50s NY. the lighting makes this place glistening perfection at all hours of day and night.
If you're headed up the New Haven line to any station after Stamford, CT and you miss the last train, there is at least a 3 - 4 hour gap till the 1st train leaves Grand Central Terminal.

Best place to buy tickets is under the West Balcony across from track 30. Much shorter lines and lots of machines.
You do t really need a tip for Grand Central. But, the art in both train halls is worth checking out.Upvoted 1 week ago
