This massive sports complex has seen it’s ups and downs, but nothing can compare to a 7:30am swim in the outdoor lap pool for only $3 – evening sessions require the $30/month membership.
Olympic-size pool (50m!) is the best in town. Always has all lanes open; even when it's set to 25M, never too crowded. Depth(13 ft?), cool temp makes it ideal for serious swimming/training/racing
Pool is closed on Fridays. Avoid going to the pool around 3-4; too many kids
Actual 25 yard pool, which is hard to find in this city. Retractable glass roof and plants make it an awesome place to swim.
It’s either because of the wide lanes, the clean water or the glorious views of the Hudson, but this is the best lap pool in NYC. $50 day pass for non-members.
Avoid the pool on Wednesday afternoons, there are nonstop swimming lessons.
To access the pool, you could splurge and spend a night here. Then you could go for a swim and take in the spectacular views over the Hudson River.

The swim up bar is fun and different but the mandatory coat check, random cover charges, sky-high drink prices and changing in the bathroom makes the pool lose its allure.
The Beach at the Dream Downtown Hotel features white sand imported from Montauk and a glass-bottomed pool, through which you can apparently see the hotel lobby, in a separate area. Read more.
The 45-foot indoor pool on the 23rd (top) floor of the Peninsula Hotel is surrounded by teak columns and a black tile floor, and has a full-time attendant. It's part of the hotel's three-floor spa. Read more.
