- Warrent SattFebruary 2, 2014There are just three of us and this was plenty of food without feeling stuffed. While all the food was good, the fish and seafood dishes were our favorite. also had some margaritas and beer.
- Carrie LawsonJanuary 9, 2015☺️ those Octopus Tacos! Wow! So delicious and delicate, marinated perfectly. Paired in a trio with grilled Sable fish, & chili prawns. Thanks for the seafood tacos & strong margaritas.
- The Corcoran GroupAugust 30, 2013Amazing tequila cocktails, particularly the Margarita Tamarindo, and delicious short rib tacos and queso fundido dishes.
- DoubleDeuceOctober 13, 2014Fantastic vibe here. The food is a tiny bit unique. It's out of place in the neighborhood but the food fits perfectly with the decor. Probably a little pricier than needed but I like it.
- Ms HeleneApril 16, 2013Good guac, palm heart salad, ceviche and fish and shrimp tacos. Not so good Moljacete (mixed grill) in chile with cactus and onion with tortillas. Great desserts-pineapple flan and choc cake
- Anne HMay 18, 2013My queso fundido was very greasy and besides hardly contained any filling. The fact that they served a perfect pisco sour made up for it. Try pisco (Peruvian cocktail) if you've never had it before.
- Ashley RoseAugust 11, 2015Great for groups - make your reservation on open table and then indulge in tequila and sangria pairings, ceviche and tacos.
- Shelby WoowJune 30, 2015Guacamole and tostadas de ceviche are super good! My favorite drink is one that is spicy called "panthers rosa" and the queso fundido (melted cheese) awe like in Mexico!
- Paul SteketeeOctober 21, 2012Great drinks, great food, and as @bourdain would say: no reservations. Get the bone marrow and the fundido and anything that oinks.
- Kathy LiuOctober 20, 2014Didn't try the food but the awesome bartender, Carlos, stood out! Made me a sassy drink with called "Lots of Love" ;) The bar is a good place if you just want to chill and talk.
- I MNovember 28, 2014Everything here tastes good, but the overload of cheese & grease always leaves me feeling ill. A shame, but it keeps me away. Prefer my mex a little less heavy. Cocktails still tempting, recommended.
- Andrew LitvakMarch 3, 2015One of the best Mexican spots downtown. Get a spicy margarita and share a bunch of tacos with the table. The Carnitas Campechanas is also pretty great.
- Ryan AmbsJanuary 12, 2016It gets expensive fast, especially with a few rounds of margaritas, which are generally good, especially the spicy variety. Carnitas were very satisfying though not life changing.
- Ana CardenasJune 13, 2017One of the best Mexican restaurants in the city and definitely the best happy hour and margarita in the city.
- Ernesto GutierrezMay 17, 2015Cheese lovers should deep into any of the queso fundidos. Pork lovers order the specialty pork dish. Was not thrilled with the tamarindo margaritas like everyone else seems to be.
- Taco AficionadoAugust 16, 2013You must try the roasted bone marrow & caramelized waygu beef tongue tacos. The sweet sherry avocado salsa will make you wish you were Mexican.
- CoverMay 8, 2014Bring a bunch of friends to split the guacamole, enjoy some margaritas and enjoy the rustic small plate offerings. Pay with Cover to easily split the check and dine without waiting for the bill.
- The torta de huevo beats regular ol' brunch any day. Scrambled egg with chorizo, avocado, cheese, and black bean purée on brioche.
- Wow! Not your trad'l mex. Great menu, everything was delicious, cool atmosphere & crowd, and service was excellent. I'll be back! (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
- Halstead PropertyAugust 4, 2011We visited Hencho on a Friday and were glad we were able to get a table. Our waiter recommended the Picaditas de Jaiba (Dungeness crab inside of tortillas) and he was spot on.
- Mark SullivanNovember 20, 2022‘Twas a wonderful lace to eat, the drinks were great and the food prepared with care, unfortunately ot closed due to the pandemic.
- Mark SullivanNovember 19, 2020I think it is gone now, but it was a favorite place for Mexican food and drink in the Bowery.
- Sadye SJanuary 26, 2014The most authentic Mexican tacos I've had in the city however be wary of the chicken enmoladas...they have a weird licorice flavor that most Mexicans aren't used to.
- Serious EatsOctober 29, 2013Fancier but approachable Mexican with great homemade tortillas and clean, thoughtful flavors.
- Taco AficionadoAugust 16, 2013The salt-cured steak, chorizo & chicharrõn with chile de arbol tacos are hearty and yummers.
- Alberto SimonDecember 16, 2016I love hecho in dumbo! Tasty food and drinks. What more can you ask for??
- SavoredFebruary 16, 2011The mollete is a treat! Love the bean spread and melted cheese on top of it's freshly baked bread. Highly recommend it as an app or a late afternoon snack.

- ReALTOAugust 20, 2012"Then came the three gorgeous cochinita pibil sopes, which I can only describe as slices of pig heaven. On a bed of perfect refried beans. And topped with succulently ..."
http://bit.ly/IXjwBI - ConBonMarch 31, 2014Sit in the back by the kitchen. They made their own homemade tortillas. Feels like east L.A.!
- Hangover-worthy spicy margaritas. Tasty street style tacos and a surprisingly sick corn salad. Would live inside this resto if I could.
- The Tacos de Atun (Tuna Sashimi Tacos) are absolute pleasure! The light lunch menu includes a Torta de Rajas with Cheese! Great flavours of Mexico!
- Kate HuyettFebruary 11, 2012Drinks: margaritas and micheladas are awesome. Dinner is far better than brunch. Don't leave without ordering tacos de castillo.
- Sara DabbsSeptember 9, 2013The Tacos de Castilla (grilled steak short rib) tacos are delicious! Perfectly seasoned.
- SPINJuly 22, 2011Gourmet Mexican street food may sound like a contradiction, but according to Madeline Follin of Cults, it’s a tasty one. Go for the sopes and fundito!
- Clara WuJuly 6, 2015food is pretty good - solid higher-cost Mexican food but nothing mind blowing. but the space is gorgeous. bring a date. they take reservations.
- The New YorkerOctober 19, 2010The place began life as an evening tenant at the Dumbo General Store, but the atmosphere in its new location on the Bowery is meant to evoke the sophistication of contemporary Mexico. Read more
