The food is fresh and does take time but well worth it. Ambiance was great for casual date night. Music was decent, got better as night time came around (played JT, earth wind & fire, MJ, etc)
Honey Harvest beer cocktail is great {hard cider and honey jack} and the fried green tomato flatbread is great. The waiting staff is hit or miss. Some a great while others are horrible.
A laid back alternative to Harlem Tavern's madness. That Saturday DJ alone is worth visit. Sat open til 3. 12 Tv's and same basic menu and staff has time for a conversation. Never a wait for stalls.
Nice spot. Closer to home than Harlem Tavern which to me is still cooler than this Heights Tavern. The name doesn't really work like Harlem Tavern either. "TAVERN IN THE HEIGHTS!" Has a better allure!
In due time it will have the same feel as Harlem Tavern during football season. Still a great bar with great food and good atmosphere. Great for the Heights!
There turkey burger was really good, the waiter was very nice, the music was good for me. Everyone was very accomodating to my party of 5 (3 adults and 2 babies ages 5mos-1yr old)
Front of house folks are a bit bitchy with whole 'wait for the whole party' thing. Have had it happen x2: once when friend was at bar ordering rounds for our table & other when friend was in bathroom
Food was hit or miss. Roast brick chicken was excellent but guac was topped w feta and pomegranate. Points for effort I guess. This is ideally a place for grabbing a beer.
Caesar salad is lacking; I think the lettuce used was iceberg & the anchovies were very weird. More like brined sardines. The pink sangria, however, was delicious, albeit overpriced at $11.
30Jul14; 2pm: today's service was HORRIBLE. I work at CUMC & frequent HT 4-5x/mo. Waited 12min for server & water (in dirty glasses, btw). Ordered burger & fish sand; left 14min later w/ NO FOOD!
Baileys Creme Bruleé was runny. Very runny, as if it was not allowed to set before torching. Thankfully, our server removed it from the bill. She know what time it is...
The food is very good but the service is terrible. Every time I have gone it has not been good...takes forever to get another drink, or a refill on water.
Heights Tavern is a casual dining venue with American style cuisine consisting of Cajun inspired dishes, a wide beer selection, fine wines and signature salads.
