- Heather BeachAugust 28, 2014The rolls are amazing, very large though, so don't order the same number of rolls that you normally would anywhere else. I would personally suggest ordering the fresh Nigri. Melts in your mouth!
- RaniaJune 29, 2017Their food is unique and I'd recommend trying their adventurous combinations. Loved the octopus cake appetizer and Orange crush roll. Their Diablo roll came extra spicy but it hit the spot.
- If you love sushi, make sure to check out their happy hour menu (or stop by for lunch). In the mood for rolls? Try the Matador and/or the Heat Stroke! #ScrappyTips
- Andrew JApril 9, 2017One of the best sushi restaurants I have been to! The Chef's Selection Sushi ($60) is the best option. You get a wide variety of fish, and it's delicious!
- Abel ArriagaMarch 22, 2017Awesome food and service! Julian was able to get us some drinks (Sundress Manhattan) best one ever while we waited. The line was long but that's what you get on a great place on a Saturday night!
- Matador, best roll. Oyster shots, delicious starter! Hardworking Mexicans 🇲🇽 and a few other Latin Americans at the bar make a living doing delicious maki rolls, respect 👏👏👏🍣👌
- Allie CaudleMarch 6, 2019This is my fav sushi place in Seattle. Amazing happy hour, seriously amazing sushi and a fantastic ambiance. Mr. Wonderful, Mexican Ninja and the Green Goddess (no longer on the menu) are my top picks
- Jair Daniel Correa SanchezJune 19, 2017The takoyaki was great, very tasty. The shredded bonita on top was just a great combination. The sushi bar adds a 20% charge for service and it is a little slow, however it is worth it.
- Phuong NguyenMay 15, 2018When I crave sushi I head straight here! My favorite rolls are Super Bad Boy, Mr. Wonderful, and Madrid Moon. Don't leave without trying an Oyster Shooter and Scallop Ceviche. Reservations are ideal!
- Mouni ReddyDecember 28, 2015They have a long and awesome happy house. They serve both traditional and Americanized sushi. The super bad boy is my American "fried" favorite.
- Mikey TAugust 28, 2013If they have fatty tuna, get it sashimi or sushi style. It doesn't matter, just get it in your mouth quickly and have your life be forever changed. Best thing I've had in Seattle all year.
- Andrea RDApril 9, 2016The happy hour menu is great. The Sake Grasshopper is delicious. The short ribs are so good, but be prepped to get your hands a bit greasy to savor each piece.
- JiOctober 1, 2019Inventive sushi, had omakasa for 40 usd - super! A symphony of tastes and textures. Miso with clams not worth double price, have the regular miso
- Allie CaudleAugust 17, 2018One of my favorite spots to get sushi, I love the Seattle Crunch Roll and the Crab Tower. Japonessa has a great late night happy hour 10PM to close.
- Bim ChannyJune 30, 2015Very delicious sushi. Fresh fish and fast service. Great for hanging out with a groupie or having a date.
- Marie NicoleFebruary 11, 2015Best sushi I've ever had. The happy hour menu is great! Ask for local ingredients and they are happy to oblige!
- renee uihleinFebruary 15, 2015Their sauces are amazing. Habanero aioli, strawberry citrus, citrus truffle.. Yum. Rolls are good but too much rice and not enough protein..a little bit less rice more protein would make it better.
- Bruno CostaOctober 25, 2016Happy hour makes this place a great deal in terms of quality/price... Every day untill 6:30pm and after 10pm. Sweet
- Happy Hour all day until 6:30. Order from the happy hour menu and you'll have a superb, inexpensive meal. Splurge on the matador though.
- Sonia SJanuary 31, 2017Very cool environment esp around the bar. Try the mochi ice cream 🍦Spicy redhead (creamy scallops topped with salmon) is yum!
- MohammedJanuary 25, 2015Amazing food, service and interior.. Try their new sushi rolls: the "20th".. very yummy and tasty!
- AFAR MediaAugust 4, 2014Japonessa is a “sushi cocina” that blends traditional sushi techniques with south-of-the-border ingredients like jalapeno, cilantro, and mango. Read more
- Jennifer CarrollSeptember 13, 2012Omg, y'all. I am drinking the best negroni I've ever had in my life, and I've been drinking them for years and years. By any means necessary, go to Japonessa and order one of these from Cameron.
- Rich StewardFebruary 8, 2020Sushi was great! Their favourites are truly delicious. Reasonably priced too
- Christine ShepherdApril 2, 2013Didn't get to try HH, but sounds like a great deal. If you like to try specialty rolls this is your place. Went with a group- everyone enjoyed the rolls and apps. They have edamame but not on menu.
- Cuci YavascaFebruary 13, 2017😋🇯🇵❤️i love the place, sushi is delicious but not like japanese style.. very good service
- Caroline ToffMarch 8, 2015Great happy hour. Seattle crunch roll is fantastic. Otoro sushi melts in your mouth! So good.
- Super bad boy roll. You won't regret it. Get it during happy hour...but they're pretty tricky. If you're gonna do take-out during HH, they will charge your sushi regular price. Beware.
- Definitely get the Mexican ninja roll and the bento box of the day are both great values during happy hour!
- Alicia KosasihJanuary 4, 2013Service was a bit slow but all signature rolls offer exciting combination of flavors. Really good value for the portion they serve. Stop here for a quick lunch!
- Stellaa DuhartOctober 15, 2017They have a lot of elaborate rolls, that are very comercial, that's why I think is a bit overpriced. The service was very good though and so was their simple yellow tail sashimi.
- Vanessa SpringfieldDecember 22, 2014Had a phenomenal dinner here after having watched a musical at the 5th ave. Miso soup and the Seattle rolls were AMAZING.
- Jen No Last NameJune 2, 2012Slowly savor the Tempura Brie with the Raspberry Soy Sauce. This is not a delicacy to just be dipped and pounded. Try it w/ a nice sweet nigori sake. And don't forget the bad boy roll! Rolls = HUGE.
- Diego MagalhaesSeptember 24, 2016Amazing sushi and rolls, got a line but it was fast. Mojito by the bar was excellent as well
- Bite SquadMarch 26, 2014Best time to go is happy hour, for sure! Bite Squad delivers your favorite Seattle dishes. Use CHECKIN on bitesquad.com for $10 OFF!
- Monique MontagueAugust 4, 2012Oh my gosh!! You can only leave one tip! You need to try it all!!! The best I ever had!
- Krishna DJuly 13, 2015Great Sushi & decor but its a busy place and tends to have a waiting time of about more than 30 mins around dinner time.
- Denise AguilarOctober 10, 2015Love coming here for lunch. Get here early ! It is always packed. Good spot to bring out of towners
- Micah SpielerSeptember 22, 2014You gotta get here during Happy Hour, goings until 8pm in the bar/lounge. Food & drink deals that make it affordable to eat here.
- @ SellierNovember 16, 2014Try the chef Omakase Sashimi...delicious . Great Sashimi chef. Lobster-and king crab soup superb.
- Tana BabcockNovember 6, 2015Good sushi and awesome happy hour. My main complaint is the crazy amount of gnats flying around us 😕 Grossed us out!
- Casanova roll is delightfully good. The Tuna sashimi during happy hour is fresh and delicious.
- Meghan McgarryDecember 21, 2014Happy hour! Delicious rolls for great prices. Don't miss the Pinot noir sangria
- lori cousleyAugust 31, 2014super bad boy and Seattle crunch are fantastic! hamachi belly was amazing! great service as well.
- Maria NicholOctober 20, 2015The crudos are great here. The entire menu seems overpriced and although the food is good, it's not worth $20 a roll. Super crowded and very dark. Phenomenal food/drink happy hour.
- dimpleNovember 21, 2014One of my favorite sushi places - great fresh sushi, nice cocktails and good ambience.
