- ShahSeptember 18, 2017Great coffee. The short rib sandwich is great (and intense, get it if you're hungry). Tons of deserts, deli treats and bread (the French baguette is delicious). I have to come back and try everything.
- Gabi NevesFebruary 2, 2015Favorite place in LA! For brunch I shared the fresh mozzarella and basil sandwich with my boyfriend. Everything was perfect in it. You can also buy cheese, breads and many other perfect things. 😍💛
- The short rib sandwich is worth dying for. But if you like lobster rolls, they have it here too on weekends and on some spontaneous week days. Solid brunch food weekdays and weekends!
- Emily JenkinsApril 21, 2018Possibly the best buttermilk pancakes I have ever had!! Lovely service, beautiful place, everything looks AMAZING! looking forward to coming back
- Anthony ChengMarch 19, 2015It gets overly crowded on the weekends. order from the left side to avoid the longer lines from the market side and get the tables in the back on the left side, less people are hounding it.
- Alex PyatetskyJanuary 29, 2019This is the place you’d love to drop in for a quick lunch every day, except nothing here is quick since it’s packed. Think WholeFoods deli/gourmet, but much better. Short rib, Brussel salad 👍👍
- Nilufer OzmekikMarch 10, 2019Wow! Breakfast burrito was yummy! Next time I’m planning to stop by at lunch time to try rib sandwich. This is such friendly, cozy place to hang out!
- Karen EguJuly 26, 2016I had their grilled cheese with bacon, and tbh when I first got the sandwich I didn't think it would be filling, but it was! The bread was perfect and the bacon was crispy and it was very yummy!
- Connie ChiuApril 24, 2017The trio salad is a good way to sample the deli salads. The curried chicken salad and farro butternut is tasty but wish there was more butternut and feta cheese. Short rib sandwich is also bomb.
- Zara KhanSeptember 13, 2018I adore this cafe! It’s a Cute, spacious, well lit bakery / cafe. However, The buttermilk pancakes were very simple and quite the bore with no sweet offerings such as fruit on the side.
- Bella BirchJanuary 2, 2015FAVORITE PLACE EVER!! I've tried basically everything and am a regular. I go there about 2 times per week and there's always new stuff to try!
- ReemAugust 2, 2019Great breakfast, and brunch selections. Variety of sweet and savory options 😍👌🏻don’t miss the short rib sandwich
- If you come for a meal, leave with a container of their famous (and delicious) green goddess dressing, which can be found in the dips and dressings fridge. Makes for a delicious veggie dip!
- Adel AlSNovember 8, 2015Elegant french cuisine with moderate portions of food.. Was able to try couple of dishes.. Go for the pancakes.. French toast and their tuna sandwich.. Avoid the egg Benedict
- Cady GrovesNovember 12, 2015The best espresso (I’m obsessed) and homemade desserts. Skip the other dishes and come for the low-key, "work-on-your-laptop" coffee shop experience. Read more
- F💫July 28, 2015Short rib sandwich is a killer .. P.S: If you can't find a place to park your car you can park it in the backyard
- EpicuriousFebruary 26, 2015A gourmet marketplace and café favored by celebutantes and busy moms, Joan's on Third shakes up its menu daily. Everything is made from scratch in-house. Read more
- There are THREE locations with cash registers (the deli case, the middle of the marketplace and the bakery). Look for wherever has the shortest line, you can order any food from any register!!
- Nick GomogdaAugust 17, 2014Spare rib sandwich was the best spare rib sandwich (possibly sandwich in general) ive ever had. Corned beef hash was also really good. Solid coffee.
- Thomas ColtonJuly 2, 2015People rave about the Meatloaf and the Chinese Chicken Salad, but honestly Joan's crushes it on everything. This place is almost always a zoo, but it's kind of a necessity to come when here.
- Vanity Fair AgendaJanuary 25, 2012Must-haves: For breakfast, the “Egg Basket” omelet with asparagus and goat cheese or the house-made granola parfait; for lunch, Joan’s Turkey Meatloaf or the croque monsieur can’t be beat.
- Alfredo AponteJune 8, 2015Don't hesitate to ask questions because their cheesemonger is incredibly knowledgable... great selection from local to family farmed cheese in Europe.
- Some absolutely amazing salads. Love at first sight with this place. What a gem!
- SaraAugust 15, 2011Joan's is a household name for LA locals and a hotspot for celebrity sightings. Come in and pick up a fresh loaf of bread, or stay and order a hot dinner. You can count on fresh, natural ingredients.
- Adam PalmerDecember 16, 2014Trendy cafe with a lot of choice, can be confusing in the marketplace set up to know where to order what. Brisket sandwich is a winner.
- Alexa WhitesideMarch 31, 2015So many options I didn't even know where to start. Come ready to eat and maybe to spend a little bit more than you planned to.
- Glenda FeldenNovember 4, 2012Soft boiled eggs with honey toast are to die for. Great coffee too. Order inside, grab your number and then sit wherever you like. Perfect breakfast spot!
- Allegra TepperJune 16, 2014Chinese Chicken Salad is a personal favorite, and a very popular choice, but really everything there is DELICIOUS. Kind of a place to see and be seen.
- Latifah AlThunayanAugust 4, 2015The buttermilk pancake with seasonal fruits on a side is a must try.
- All the salads - all the time! And the artichoke. It comes cold but the sauce is so good you forget 😉
- Lina A.April 27, 2015mozzarella or roast beef or chicken or or or all sandwiches are amazing! try also the red velvet and chocolate roulade cake.

- Leah WilliamsMarch 5, 2012I love riding my bike here on a Sunday afternoon with a good book, Joan's devine coffee and Ella Fitzgerald playing in the background. It's a slice of life I cannot live without!
- Meg L.August 19, 2011Everything's delicious: hot, cold, meaty, cheesy, vegetarian, breakfast/brunch/lunch & dessert. Equipped with a mini market and celebrities to ogle. Be prepared to wait a bit during full lunch rush.
- meniscuszine.comSeptember 24, 2011If you need to take a break from shopping along one of the few pedestrian-friendly strips in L.A., Joan's on (West) Third (St.) - a market-meets-cafe - provides fresh goods and delicious cupcakes.
- Simon & Schuster ManagerAugust 25, 2011Katie Lee, author of GROUNDSWELL, highly recommends the molasses cookies. To get on the same wavelength as Katie Lee grab a picnic basket to bring along for surfing at the beach.http://bit.ly/k56VHC
