If you're looking for a bar outside of security, head straight to Terminal 1. Greenwich Village Bistro, in the food court, next to Sbarro, is your salvation.

Security lines can be a pain. The lounges cannot be compared to the ones in Europe. Though the airport is well organized.

Airport that can be great or horrible. Global Entry at this airport can help a lot despite the passenger arrival computers, as luggage handling tends to be fast.

Taxis are supposedly a flat rate of $52 to Manhattan. Carmel Car Service is fast & offers $6 coupons (call, reserve, get coupon code first) off their $52 +tolls+tip fare (no long lines)!

If you don't have much luggage, Airtrain to subway or LIRR is quickest way to/from Manhattan or downtown Brooklyn. And will save you $$$.

Don't listen to those about DL. They are great. Want better service? Try paying more you cheapskate. Don't try to bring your bag to gate since they'll check it for free, those are usually first lost

Airtrain it back to Manhattan if you're travelling solo. It takes an hour and it's only $7 compared to a $50 cab where you can get stuck in traffic. Just follow the signs.

If you're headed to Manhattan, take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, then the LIRR to Penn Station. Costs $10 - $15, depending when you're traveling & takes half the time of the E train.

If it's your first time to New York, it's custom to do a little dance when you get off the plane. The gate agents will often put on Kool & the Gang's "Celebration" and join in.
