- Cindy OlJune 15, 2019Historic place - ask about the pipes on the wall. Has become a bit pricey but great place for a business lunch. Our servers were attentive and sensitive to needs if our table.
- Scott LustigJune 27, 2015This place has an amazing mutton chop that distinguishes it from most classic steakhouses. The atmosphere can be hit or miss depending on which of the many rooms you're in. One of my faves.
- Michael MarranziniAugust 21, 2021Get the Mutton and the Poterhouse for 2. Side of cream spinach. hasbrowns and a bottle of red.
- Mike StrockoJanuary 8, 2015The burger (only available in the pub room on weekdays) is very juicy and flavorful. Pairs well with a side of the thick-cut smoked bacon.
- Alejandro HoyoJanuary 19, 2015If you go for the porterhouse (for 2) order it one grade less cooked than you would otherwise; the filet side will be a little rawer than that, but the much larger t-bone side will come out just right
- Diana ShvartsbergMarch 17, 2013The pipe collection here is a really neat touch to the old leather feel of the restaurant. It def. has a boys club vibe. The service is great & the food is even better, the berry bibble was my fav.
- Saud AlwaselMay 30, 2022I'm huge stake fan.. you must try it out if you are visiting NYC. The vibes also is amazing 👏🏻
- Gökhan EgeneNovember 21, 2019All good..food&wine great..there could be noisy men groups at dinner..Anyway come at all times, you won’t regret
- Jason Baughman-OpricăMay 20, 2018The porterhouse was sublime, as was my iceberg wedge. We ate at the bar and had excellent service. Pricey, but damn, that’s good steak.
- Dinner for four? Get two orders of bacon, a porterhouse for two, mutton chop, burger with cheddar, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. Scientific proportions made to make the entire table happy.
- Still the best steakhouse in NY. Period. Lugar's? No. Old Homestead? Nah. Delfriscos? Uh uh. This, is the place. Cant beat the meat or the decor.
- Diana ChowDecember 30, 2015Some of the best filet mignon I've ever had. Porterhouse for 3 was great for sharing and delicious. Really loved the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes!
- Steven PopekSeptember 3, 2016Steaks and lamb chops....my mouth is watering now...Plus History of this establishment, will want you to explore the walls and ceilings. It was a smoke house in the 1790's.
- Marc BaronSeptember 9, 2013This was once the home of The Lambs, America's first professional theatrical club established in 1874. The 2nd floor is called The Lambs room. www.The-Lambs.org
- jon ferrerAugust 23, 2014My favorite steakhouse in Manhattan. The mutton chop is a classic, as is the bacon. one of the best collections of scotch in the city as well.
- Philipp ZJanuary 21, 2016The steak experience! Great selection of meat and fresh oysters, good cocktails and wine. And a lot of old pipes.

- David BrahlerMarch 15, 2015Get the Mutton, Prime Rib, or Porterhouse with the wedge salad and creamed spinach. I recommend getting it all and sharing!
- When in doubt or just wanting a 'snack' I highly recommend the Steak Salad. Flavorful, Med - well skirt steak & the salad was butter lettuce that I could have eaten more of. Delish!!
- John LFebruary 11, 2013Excellently done steaks. Skip the famous mutton chop if you haven't the appetite of a horse, and order creamed spinach. Don't be afraid to spend here, it's worth every cent.
- jon accarrinoJuly 28, 2014Most authentic steakhouse in NYC. 100+ years old. Prime-rib, mutton chop and Filet mignon are outstanding. Killer ambiance. Fun place to eat.

- Jun Young John LeeNovember 28, 2013The mutton chop is a must at Keens. It's the only restaurant in the city to serve its kind. There are absolutely no questions to be asked for the restaurant service and quality.
- SparkieOctober 12, 2014For a meal you won’t soon forget, chow down on a charred T-Bone Steak or a King Cut Prime Rib accompanied by a side of Sautéed Mushroom and Hand-Cut Fries
- Hakan ElmasSeptember 11, 2014The best, period! Ask from your waiter to give you a short tour within the restaurant. Learn about the pipe tradition, check out the gun that shot Lincoln, take a look at Roosevelt room.
- Nick van MierloJanuary 30, 2016Delicious (massive) steak, cool atmosphere and extremely hospitable service. Overall a great night out!
- Hailey NguyenOctober 22, 2017The king cut prime rib is great but huge! Love the ambience, perfect for special occasions
- Elva AristaApril 12, 2013Ambiance of old world, gentleman's parlor. Love the pipe collection displayed on the ceiling. Lively place, very testosterone charged but equally welcoming for a solo female diner. Wonderful service
- Great food, fabulous service. The bartenders are all excellent, but Albert is without a doubt the most consummate mixologist I've ever seen - anywhere. Complimentary ribs on Wednesday nights at 5PM.
- Claire J SongJune 19, 2017When I go with people who never been to this amazing place, I don't mind ordering mutton chop so people can taste even tho they are not a fan. Order old fashioned or manhattan instead of red wine.
- ArtofLongNicksOctober 20, 2014Mutton chop! Pretty good and comes with mint jelly, sweet balance for lamb taste. Not the best sirloin though comparing Sparks!
- MarcJanuary 21, 2021Esquire: Definitely the porterhouse or the mutton chop, always the creamed spinach and the hashbrowns for sides, and yes, you’ll be having a martini
- Valeria VacchelliJune 5, 2014Amazing steakhouse! Price is high but food and drinks are worth it all...Porterhouse for two is for three people and must try hash brown potatos.
- jansen cApril 13, 2016Try their signature steak with medium rare, portion is big so you can share that and try other dishes
- Eric DallemagneJanuary 6, 2017The granddaddy of all NYC steakhouses, this 1885 Midtown temple to meat remains solid although I had better. Negatives: crowded, and the service was average (the waiter doubled his tip on the bill.)
- s sJuly 15, 2019Steak and classy atmosphere for dinner were great👍🏻. but some tables are too close to each other.
- Jenny SorensenMarch 5, 2015If you're a meat lover, this is deadset one of the best places you could even think of going!!! It's old-school chophouse at its best!
- Valeria VacchelliJune 5, 2014Amazing steakhouse! Price is high but food and drinks are worth it all...Porterhouse for two is for three people and must hash brown potatos.
- Rewan PartiJanuary 29, 2016Massive Mutton Chop+ Mint Jelly= Devine. It has a beautiful collection of pipes all over the ceiling and side walls. Order a side of creamed spinach.
- Men's Health MagAugust 3, 2014Chef Bill Rodgers and his staff patrol the meat market with a copper stamp, branding with edible ink only the most pristine cuts of USDA prime protein. Read more
- WillMcDOctober 8, 2011Great spot. Opened in 1878. Was also a smoking lounge til 1970. Over 90k clay smoking pipes on the ceiling Main hang out for actor & playwrights. Show up early and grab a drink at the bar. Perfect
- Mary MarouApril 11, 2017The fillet mignon I had was fantastic. Prices are a bit higher than those on Foursquare though.
- Joan MatelliAugust 29, 2012The Jake salad with pomegranate seeds is surprising and lovely. Even if you came here for the classics, you should try it.
- Nadine COURAUDOctober 5, 2011Nice Porterhouse. Don't hesitate taking the Riesling 2009 of Hermann J. Wiemer : very well balanced with freshness and light sweetness. Lemon and rose aromas. A fine wine, a good value for price.
- FerdinandApril 16, 2013Try their legendary mutton chop. It's bigger than your face and will lull you into a meat coma. The churchwarden pipe collection is less meaty but equally impressive.
- Anna .July 22, 2013Apparently this place is one of top 5 in the country! And I'm not surprised. It was a really great experience: delicious food and excellent service!
- Kirill KukuruzaOctober 4, 2016Great steakhouse with a beautiful atmosphere. All steaks were absolutely delicious!
