This cute and cheerful sub shop, serves up tastes of East Coast Italian-American goodness like meatball, chicken parm, and roasted pork subs, house pickles, and housemade Italian ice for dessert.

The bitterness of the rapini with pork on the arista was unique and fantastic. The melted cheese and provolone on the meatball were awesome. Split with a friend to try two. You should too.

Take the Italian ice: sweet shaved shards in lemon, almond, or a seasonal flavor. Syrupy but light and summery regardless of the season, it's always a treat after, say, a chicken parm. Read more

Newly open in SoMa as of 2013, this sandwich shop from former A16 chef Liza Shaw specializes in East Coast-style subs and hoagies. Try the great cheesesteak sandwich or meatball sub. Read more

Take your pick from a whole morning menu of egg subs, like the HEC, which, as you can probably guess, is a ham, scrambled egg, cheese and gardiniera sandwich. Read more

The subs here are awesome! Not the flavorless kind you find at some chains. They use a delicious house made sesame bread. You can also get any sub as a salad on a healthy amount of Arugula.

"Food that reminds me of my childhood always strikes my soul. Liza's subs are awesome, but her lemon shaved ice reminds me of summertime as a child back east." Chef Greg Dunmore Read more

The Italian combo, turkey, and porchetta subs are also topnotch, but the chicken parm has me going to Merigan twice a week since they opened to get my fix. Read more

We loved the Italian Combo and the Panelle, but our personal favorite was the Porchetta (Slaw, Hots, Dressing, Lemon Conserva, & Cracklins). Get a cookie to go.

The Italian combo sub was outstanding. I'm going to try the chicken parm sandwich next time. The sandwiches are pretty big too.

Laid back atmosphere and a chicken parm sandwich that satisfies the east coast craving, albeit a little bit smaller and more expensive.

The chicken parm is genius: they use juicy chicken thigh, and you can pony up with a burrata add-on if you are feeling fearless.

Certainly not Philly prices, but the roast pork is damn good (the Arista). All sandwiches come with salt water taffy... fuck yeah!

Don't let the $4 price tag scare you, the burrata is always worth it, especially on the chicken parm.

Pretty good! Porchetta was a little too fatty for its own good. Way too much cheese on the meatball without enough sauce. Overall not bad!
