    They have a wide variety of artistic periods from around the world. The collections of American is some of the best in the country. The coat check can take some time especially in winter.

    Start your visit in the morning and wear comfortable shoes. There is so much to look at and you don't want to miss out on it. They have done an amazing job with that place.

    What a phenomenal museum! The American art is a wonderful section of the museum showing the interaction between the history of the US and art. The museum is large so make sure you have lots of time.

    Go to the "new" American wing. It's beautiful, and has some interesting furniture displays, as well as several paintings by my favorite- Georgia O'Keefe

    Don't miss the daily tours too. There are different tours focusing on different subjects ranging from collection highlights tour to European arts etc. Docents are excellent.

    Excellent collection of art from all eras from the ancient world to contemporary times. A highlight is the massive Americas wing exhibiting pre-Columbian era art.

    The American Wing is amazing. Plan to spend 3 hours here at minimum. 2020 is their 150th year and have many special events. Check with them on that. When traveling to Boston MFA is a must see!

    Pricey but it's worth an annual visit. There is a constant rotation of galleries & so forth which makes for a different experience every time. The lectures here are sometimes interesting. Decent food.

    Excellent collection of conitreprary and modern art. 2nd floor is my favorite. Right now they had interesting exhibition of American art (colonization years)

    First Fridays is a great time to visit. There's a cocktail party in the Koch Gallery and the rest of the museum is pretty empty on a Friday night. Best of both worlds if you want to socialize or not.

    You can't miss Thomas Sully's massive painting, "Passage of the Delaware", which depicts George Washington and his army crossing the Delaware River during the American Revolution.

    Understandable why this is one of America’s great museum. Ideal for lunch and/or idle wandering, but the layout is confusing and difficult to navigate.

    In the Art of the Americas wing, don't miss the "Behind the Scenes" galleries, which have a very meta focus ("How does the museum decide what to display?"). They're almost hidden and, as such, empty.

    Visit often if you are a student, it's free for most Boston students! The MFA is one of the nation's best museums. You will miss it when you leave Boston.

    Incredible selection of American art from the puritans through to contemporary. Also the European impressionist collection is small but excellent.

    Great place. Their modern and contemporary collection isn’t that comprehensive, and some of the exhibitions aren’t exactly “fine art” at all.
