A mish mash of what I consider to be the best restaurants in Hong Kong - not just in terms of food quality and value for money but also ambience and overall enjoyment.
Nic Tinworth: Best seafood in Hong Kong without question! Ferry from Blakes Pier leaves at 11 on weekends and public holidays, or get a ride on a junk with friends. Lovely scenic hiking trails too - Great day out!

Nic Tinworth: A long time favourite with locals and expats alike - it's been here for years and not changed at all. Sizzling Szechuan prawns, Chilli beef, Peking Duck and bottles of Tsing Tao. Great for a crowd.
Nic Tinworth: Technically not in Hong Kong, but deserves a place on this list because it is the *best* chorizo around hands down. The BBQ chicken and chips are also cooked to perfection. Wash down with Superbok.
Nic Tinworth: It's not Thai, it's not Chinese, it's Thaiese! Cooked bloody well and has a fantastic atmosphere. Located right next to the beach it's a perfect meal after hiking Dragon's Back. Tom Ka Gai a fav.
Nic Tinworth: The second best deep fried squid in Hong Kong, second only to Ming Kee on Po Toi. Eat by the water and open air and make sure you order the chili prawns and garlic and ginger grouper.
Nic Tinworth: Excellent middle eastern food - as good as you are going to get in Hong Kong. Halloumi cheese is fantastic and the lamb shish with rice and hummus is a big enough meal for two. Tsing Tao on tap!
Nic Tinworth: Not great value for money unfortunately - small portions are somewhat overpriced considering their location, but the quality of the food is very good and authentic.
Nic Tinworth: Could be amazing food, could be very average. Same with the service. Can be full of weekend warriors on the weekends - the loud annoying kind. The home-made bread and hummus are ace. Eat on the beach!
Nic Tinworth: The *best* value for money dim sum in town. Consistently good - always cooked fresh and the char siu bau are divine. The tater-tot like Turnip in XO sauce cubes are utterly fantastic.
Shop J-K, 200 Hollywood Rd (at Pound Ln), Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
Hong Kong Restaurant · Central and Western District · 31 tips and reviews
Nic Tinworth: Seriously good 'Ju Pa Faan' - marinated pork chops on rice with egg, veg, or tomato sauce. Cheap, quick and very cheerful. Pork chop buns are also very good. Lunchtime fav.
Nic Tinworth: Small, mahogany walled restaurant in the Mandarin that feels like a private club. British fare that is highly enjoyable. Fish & Chips and Shepherds Pie are recommended. As is the Laphroaig scotch.
10 Shelley St (btwn Hollywood Rd & Staunton St), 中環, 中西區
Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurant · 75 tips and reviews
Nic Tinworth: A recently discovered gem for organic, vegetarian and gluten-free food fans in town. Extremely fresh and generous proportions. Grab a table on the roof and get the African Stew or Sesame Tofu stirfry.
Nic Tinworth: If there is a better Vietnamese of this quality and value in town I have yet to find it. Immense waits at lunch and dinner, but worth it. Fantastic Pho and the beef in pandanus leaves is succulent!
