Order some antipasti at Mario Batali's casual pizzeria while you wait on his thin-crusted creations. Runny yolk fans opt for the Pane Frattau -- a pie with a sunnyside-up egg in the center.

The pasta was a little al dente and the sauces a bit overpowering for my taste. Didn't try the pizzas though and the prices are very reasonable

Loud atmosphere and LOTS of kids running around. Definitely not a date spot, but the food is really delicious. Try the braised pork pasta.

My #1 favorite restaurant in NYC and the site of much of the early courtship between me and my wife. It's easy to become a regular here - bartender Dennis is the best in Manhattan.

Food is delicious and cheap. Unfortunately, every time I go the staff is always so snobby. They act like they can't be bothered to do anything.

What a great atmosphere! And, the food, as well as the value, was some of the best in NYC! Then a short hop over to Washington Square provides plenty of 'entertainment'.
