Every dish was amazing. Super trendy but more expensive than you'd think. Get the octopus, cod, salmon sashimi, lamb belly, flat iron steak, strawberry desert. Every plate looks farm-to-foraged.
This trendy tapas spot is best known not only for its unique and delicious small plates, but an incredibly extensive and fairly priced wine list. Be sure to order the meatballs and lamb belly.
Standouts include robust pork meatballs and spicy octopus, which Kuo marinates for 24 hours in a dry rub of Japanese togarashi chiles, slow-cooks in mirin until tender, and then fries until crisp. Read more
Literally everything was amazing... but if I HAD to choose, my fav bites were the sweetbreads & mussels. But if Marshall is your server, then eat/drink whatever he tells you. He won't steer you wrong!
Known for its extensive wine list, Pearl & Ash boasts a large patio right on the Bowery plus the low ABV Lava Colada with housemade pickled pineapple purée, Cocchi Americano and fresh coconut milk.
Fluke, hamachi, cod plates are fantastic. Pair with one of 1800 wines or an innovative negroni. All accompanied by a spot-on 80s soundtrack that tells me these guys understand their target clientele!
Pearl & Ash, our 2014 winner for Best Restaurant Bar Program, offers punk-rock wine with its creative dishes. Start with togarashi-rubbed octopus and finish with Fernet-Branca ice cream sandwiches.
This place and good wine, great ambiance + lovely service. Good for some light snacks like cheese plate. Great meatballs but the seafood was atrocious, we ordered octopus, some sort of tartar. No mas
This place is amazing. Start with the bread with chicken butter and you'll be in heaven. The pork meatballs with shiitake and bonito were amazing as was the quail wrapped in chicken skin!
The place - Blond wood tables; navy suede benches; The food - raw and small plates like tea-cured salmon with goat cheese and seaweed, Quail over almond puree with pomegranate jelly and chicken skin Read more

Mercifully located in a non-fratty stretch of LES. Wonderful small plates are great for sharing, and for a casual restaurant the wine selection is incredible with a lot of decent bottles under $50.
Hanger, Octopus, Salmon, Duck Confit, Mussels, Quail, Flatiron, Brussel Sprouts, Potatoes, Coffee Cake w/ Lemon.. Just ate land & sea @PearlandAshNYC and every morsel was simply divine! #CulinaryBliss
The cheesecake the accompanied the grapefruit sorbet reminded me of Chikalicious. it was excellent and refreshing. The service was also top notch. friendly and accommodating.
I would describe P&A as a tasty, expensive tapas restaurant. Dishes are meant to be shared (3/ person is good). Order: Hanger Tartare, Bread, Pork Meatballs and Potatoes. Skip: Shrimp. #nyceats #soho
The divers scallops are a thrilling (and cheap!) starter. Skip the dull meatballs and get the smoked salmon or amazing skirt steak. And avoid the ice cream sandwich, it tastes like Vicks VapoRub. Read more
The Fernet ice cream sandwich is a must-have! Aromatic undercurrents of mint and anise are infused with the Italian amaro and a smoothy, creamy finish.
Globally-inspired dishes are inventive, if on the small side. The real draw is the exceptionally well chosen wine list, which spans the world from Oregon to Lebanon.
the pyramid of dark octopus tendrils and Humble green beans alone mark the chef, Richard Kuo, who cooked previously at the pop-up Frej, as a master of umami.
Get the half portions and try as many plates as possible. Incredible wine list. p.s. Keep your heads down when they pop the champagne bottles with a long knife.
Fernet-Branca Ice Cream Sandwich. Kuo bookends a block of Fernet-suffused ice cream (herbaceous & a hair shy of savory) w. 2 planks of soft, perforated chocolate cake & served wrapped in wax paper.
"There are some earthy, straightforward meatballs, which make a nice starter, and an excellent classic skirt steak that is not overshadowed by its more exotic neighbors on the menu..." Read more
Can only speak to the wine list - which is beyond extensive, but accessible. Looking forward to trying some bites next time (though they do appear to be a bit pricey for small bites)
The wine list, created by Palace Hotel wine director Patrick Cappiello, is serious business and offers an unexpectedly huge selection from Burgundy and Bordeaux. Read more
One of the best wine programs in the city – awesome old wines at sick prices. Wine director and partner Patrick Cappiello is the MAN. Food is excellent.
Great wines for under $40. Recommended by the NYT: scallops with fennel, lily bulb and berbere; hanger steak tartare; octopus with sunflower seed and shiso.
Over 100 wines by the bottle to choose from at all price points. I do not rate the food, ambience, and music very high individually... But collectively = perfection.
"kicks down the walls that snobs have built around wine and lets the rest of us walk in... small plates are seasoned with a sense of adventure." - Pete Wells, NYT
Don't show up when Adrian Grenier shows up, or he will get seated in five minutes (after your reserved table is an hour late) even though he's washed up at a young age. I guess it's the blue eyes.
