- Miranda MayoNovember 8, 2010Very beautiful zoo but also very spread out so make sure you have comfy shoes. Feeding the giraffes is awesome and worth it ( they have super soft noses)
- Walk around the entire loop and check each viewpoint to find the bear. In hot weather, they like to rest in the water or shade areas
- The Zoo is planning on building a new exhibit for the tigers. The upcoming event, Walk in the Wild is a fundraiser for the project. You can also donate at the front gate
- Get the membership! We have been 3 times with the kids and it has more than paid for itself!
- The cheetahs typically lay in the shade either in the far right corner or along the left side of the exhibit near the fence
- Rachel StineDecember 23, 2014Nice zoo but it's poorly organized/laid out. Check out the squirrel monkeys!
- BrandonAdamsonApril 16, 2010Beware if you are on a date here..sometimes when you walk in somebody sneaks up and snaps an unexpected picture of you and your date! You can pick it up on your way out of the zoo. Read more
- Ashley GysinNovember 17, 2013Stingray Bay is really cool, even for adults. The food is overpriced and underwhelming. Make sure to check out the orangutans, my favorite to watch.
- Jeff ConnellMarch 11, 2013Love this place...take the time to appreciate all the animals and the people who care for them!
- Come check out the komodo dragons, orangutans, lions, tigers and so much more. Get a membership and enjoy discounts around the park and unlimited entry for the year.
- Don't forget the hours changed this month. I did :-( that means it's a month or so before it is comfortable to go to the zoo again.
- Come on a Monday or Tuesday early in the season to avoid the crowds. Buy and print your tickets in advance.
- Lions typically sleep 18 to 20 hours a day. The best time to see them active is early in the morning or late afternoon
- Check both outdoor yards and the inside rooms to find the 4 orangutans. They often have access to choose where they want to be.
- Look around the exhibits for the dragons. If its warm out they will most likely be in the shade. If its cooler they'll be in the sun.
- Kyle WinsteadFebruary 14, 2013Come one, come all. Great zoo with great features. Well worth the entrance fee
- There is a water fountain and sprinkler park for the kids...bring your swim gear and towels!
- Marathon has closed nearly all entry to the zoo. Had to drive on Scottsdale, to Curry heaf west, to Mill head northwest, to Priest/Galvin Parkway north
- Allison A.September 10, 2011This Zoo has great programs for your kids, especially the Breakfast with the Animals and the Wild Science Academy!
- MikeyJuly 1, 2013Highly recommend a stop here at the ZOO. Even in 115 degree weather we had fun and saw animals moving around.
- Torey LeonMay 31, 2013Bring sunscreen and lots of water to the zoo! It gets super hot and you will dehydrate!
- Monkey Village is by far my favorite exhibit. Definitely a must see!
- Charlie LittrellDecember 28, 2011Go early for ZooLights to get a good parking spot. Otherwise, you'll be hoofing it in from the lot way down the street.
- Definitely get a membership! You don't have to worry about seeing everything during busy days and the sprayground is a huge success with the kids during the summer!
- Visit PhoenixJune 22, 2011The Phoenix Zoo, which is considered one of the nation's top 10 zoos, played a large part in saving the Arabian oryx from extinction.
- Amy BerryOctober 3, 2013We have been to Phoenix Zoo at Christmas and it is beautiful with all the lights.
- Local NotionJanuary 3, 2012Purchase ticket from smartphone while walking in the pre purchase line past thousands of people. Says to print it but have person key in the number under the barcode. No need to waste toner / paper.
- HISTORYApril 23, 2010This zoo was originally named the "Maytag Zoo" after Robert Maytag, who formed the Arizona Zoological Society. Maytag died a few months before its opening in November 1962.
- Victoria JanacekAugust 5, 2013Check out the zoo lights during Christmas! Also the lion roaring is awesome.
- Logan DerrickJanuary 8, 2012Be sure to check out the ZooLights during the winter! One of my favorite parts of this season!
- In the summer, the lions like to rest in the shade in the bottom of the moat. Look down to see them.
- most of the animals are active early in the morning - a great reason to be there when the zoo opens
- Walt GarrettNovember 23, 2013Actually an outstanding zoo. Pretty much every animal on Noah's Ark. It's not as good as the San Diego zoo but nothing is
- MeganMay 30, 2012If you're planning more trips to the zoo, check out www.pogopass.com for a great deal. 2 zoo visits included! Follow @pogopass on twitter for promo codes!
- ASU's Tempe CampusMarch 14, 2012Looking for a change of pace? Head to the zoo to feed the giraffes, pet a stingray and ride a camel.
- Check out the ticket center near stingray bay for prices and times to feed the giraffes
- Strollers! OMG! And please watch your children. I do not find them cute or amusing and I paid to be here, too. #assholeparents
- Chris SJanuary 1, 2015A nice facility but not great conditions for the animals. The lone orangutan locked in an empty concrete cell broke my heart.
- Each spring the American Association of Zoo Keepers holds an event called Bowling for Rhinos which helps conserve rhino habitat worldwide
