DC's best bookstore for bibliophiles. This is the shop you see so often on CSPAN Book TV. Theodore KimJanuary 6, 2014Not to be missed at the cafe: the homemade toast with jam. It's homemade and from Lyon bakery in D.C. It's literally the best I've ever tasted.
The staff’s knowledge and love of their books is the best around.
Great author talks, but also great when not crowded and you can just sit and tap away on your laptop.

Sale books are downstairs! They always have a great selection. If for some reason they don't have a book they'll order it for you. :-)

Love this place but was annoyed the cashier rang up my order for 2 books for a book event so that it cost me MORE than it would have if I had only purchased each book individually
Absolutely love this bookstore, and they are always hosting interesting talks. The coffee is pretty decent too.

Frank StonehouseJuly 18, 2013Nice, but Internet is cut off during lunch time which staff said is between 11am and 3pm. I guess this frees up tables for customers buying food and not just sipping and surfing. A bit inconvenient.

Pricey! But the discount section is a great one. Great titles in hard cover for between 8 and 10 dollars.

Polly's homemade graham's w/tea or coffee are especial thing in the coffee shop. Not easy to find around DC....
- The hot chocolate here is perfect. And the discount book section is amazing.
