The service and the vibe of the room is cozy and great. The empanadas were nice especially the plantain and oxtail one, but mains were lacklustre and disappointing. Still a great neighbourhood spot.

Everything that comes off their open-flame grill is charred to perfection. That octopus! If you want a fried treat, the chicharrones are excellent - just make sure you request bones in the chicken 🐔

The sangria and empanadas are so good. The main dishes are also great and the tres leches is a great way to end the meal! Everyone is so friendly. Great date spot.

Puerto Viejo is a Dominican bistro that has the expected Dominican dishes like sancocho with pieces of chicken and pork and tender roasted pernil. The homemade habanero hot sauce is a must. Read more

The menu is varied so that you can either get a hearty main or share a bunch of sides appetizers. Volume is loud enough to focus you on your dinner partner without being deafening. Service is friendly

How can you go wrong with empanadas and plantain chips? Add some sangria and you've got the best cozy-casual night in the neighborhood.

Seriously the best empanadas anywhere. The cheese one is so good that I want to have it for breakfast with eggs on the side. One minus is that it's cash only.

Vegetarian here: Not a lot of veggie options, but the ones available are very good! Veggie mofongo, some veggie empanadas, and some sides are really good. Very Dominican tasting drinks.

Order a pitcher of red sangria and feast on empanadas. Go with at least one white cheese. Prove you are a man by a generous portion of their hot sauce. Prooooove it!

Pro tip: Since it's a Dominican restaurant, don't order the Cuban Sandwich or the friendly servers will judge you. The burger's great (and not Cuban).
