- Patrick KeijerFebruary 16, 2015If you have the time to spend the whole afternoon, exploring and admiring Dutch Culture, Dutch (paint) Masters and sniffing some Dutch history from the 'golden century', grant yourself this chance!Upvoted Nov 13
- Marci HyattOctober 26, 2015Rembrandt's The Night Watch is an amazing painting to see in person. This museum allows people to take pictures of the art! Just no flash!Upvoted Nov 17
- tigz de palmaDecember 22, 2016the dutch masters, the still lifes, the milkmaid, the architecture, the history. the dutch have such a rich art culture, finely represented here. a must see. it's huge, plan a day, or go back again.
- Tero AngeriaNovember 19, 2017The Nightwatch - obviously.. But there is so much more to see. Download the app to your phone, as the app has all the formal audio tours and you save money! I recommend minimum 2 hrs to visit..
- Enter the gardens for free (toilets for free inside too), but take your time to watch the great pieces of art inside. If you tend to visit more than 3 museums in a year: ask for a 'museumkaart'.
- DenizJune 20, 2017A wonderful museum, full of art and history. Don't forget to buy your ticket priorly through web and skip the line. Get your comfortable shoes, and start walking in the museum.
- Fred SpofforthJanuary 4, 2020There are the must see Vermeer’s and the Nightwatch but make sure you go to the special exhibits in the basement. The family game is a good way to engage the kids in the exhibits (well some of them).
- Lucille FisherNovember 29, 2017Must see! The extra fee to join the intro tour is absolutely worth it! So much to see and the tour gives you a better perspective, specially if you’re short on time.
- If Van Gogh museum is crowded, Rijks has a quite number of his paintings here, including masterpieces from Rembrandt, Rubens, Brueghel, Avercamp, etccc
- Julia S.June 24, 2014The small café on the first floor has DELICIOUS brownies. There is also free Wifi, the art is impressive and I wish I had read before that there is an app and hadn't paid the 5€ for the audio tour.
- 4SQ SU NetherlandsApril 16, 2016The Rijksmuseum is dedicated to art en history. It's also the largest art and most visited museum of the Netherlands. You will find masterpieces of Rembrandt, Frans Hals and Johannes Vermeer in here.
- Magdalena MrázkováOctober 8, 2016This place is enormous so it's good to decide before what you'd like to see as you simply can't manage everything. The 1700 century art (including Rembrandt and Vermeer) is a must!
- Tonia ImperfectFebruary 6, 2017A rich architectural museum, there are four floors filled with the works of many great Dutch & foreign artists. The exhibits all have descriptions and interesting facts on the side. It's huge, plan ahead
- Ksenia V.July 13, 2018Well worth the money! If you look and book online you can find a 10% discount code! It’s good to give it 5hrs if you have the time and the stamina. Very accessibly annotated and well curated.
- Koko Tip: Book an early morning ticket and you’ll have the museum to yourself. There’s nothing like standing in the great hall in silence. ❤️ Koko
- John BarnhamFebruary 15, 2015Well how to sum this place up, it's a beautiful building which is full of beautiful artworks. You need to be here at 9am or you will have to queue, this place is rightly popular.
- FoodieSeptember 20, 2014Get your ticket online or be prepared to queue for literally two hours to get in 😁🙈 Avoid the busiest hours (11am-3pm)👆 The place is overcrowded inside, you won't be able to enjoy 'The Night Watch'
- Vangelis KoukidisNovember 1, 2016Start from the top floors, I believe it makes the going around easier. Photos are oddly allowed - even with flash! - and the personnel is very friendly. Looks bigger than it is. Focus on the Dutch.
- Emilia FlockhartNovember 25, 2013You don't need a ticket to visit the cafe. The coffee is delicious and reasonably priced. It's a great spot to take a rest and people watch.
- EmilyApril 12, 2017This museum is in a truly amazing building. Exploring the museum is so much fun. It's a fascinating look into Dutch history. It's much more than old paintings! Be sure to see the doll houses!
- Ferdy van BerkelAugust 15, 2018A must while you are in the city is seeing the pieces of art made by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals and countless more Dutch Masters. My favorite is definitely “De Nachtwacht” by Rembrandt van Rijn.
- Heleno SchneiderOctober 14, 2014Not only you will see one the largest collection of masterpieces of the Dutch Golden Era but you will enjoy the fine architecture. Bonus: 4 Vermeer's side by side, including the Milkmaid.

- EdwulfJanuary 23, 2017Focus on European painting (some other stuff too) you must see the Rembrandt. Good museography all works have description and a curious fact. Stained glass on 3rd floor is a special photo spot.
- Jelle HoogenboomNovember 9, 2013If you don't have the time or the patience to see the entire museum, at least visit the 2nd floor. This is dedicated to the 17th century, the Dutch Golden Age, and is the highlight of the museum.
- Jeffrey JamesApril 6, 2015A lovely selection of paintings from the Dutch masters through the ages. Wonderful examples of 17th century cabinets & antiquities. Don't wait in line for the coat check, use the lockers €1!
- Hop Hey LalaleyOctober 11, 2015Great Rembrandt collection, if you have time - have a look at less popular works of Dutch artists - you will be surprised with the style and technique. The hall with dolls' houses is a must visit.
- Michael O'RourkeJanuary 9, 2017Phenomenal collection of Dutch history and art. It's easily worth a visit, but make sure that you get here early if you want to see Rembrandt's Night Watch - the crowds are insane.
- Ана ЛековићJuly 27, 2018You need at least 3h to only visit most popular periods. Gardens (in front and back) are amahzing - chill here even if not visiting museum. Entry is free and they are open until 18h.
- Shaun WestonFebruary 18, 2015The Late Rembrandt exhibition was excellent, and the Van Gogh and Vemeer paintings were gorgeous. Can't wait to go back and spend more time there.
- shal923hJuly 22, 2022Would recommend leveraging the audio guide to navigate through the rooms with its designed route, but pause the audio to read each room’s descriptions bc the guide only focuses on individual paintings
- Anke St.October 21, 2015Amazing art museum with paintings by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh etc.. Get the free museum's app in advance: with the free WLAN you can choose between a variety of tours.
- Michael WozniakNovember 6, 2016Beautifully refurbished with some amazing art. Make sure to download the free iOS app to use your phone like an audio guide. Make sure to have your headphones handy.

- Tamara ZabihiJuly 22, 2023Beautiful selection of pre-modern art!I recommend going earlier in the day, as later on in the afternoon, it gets more stuffy and crowded, and each wing fills up with lots of foot traffic.
- Emily BasileAugust 28, 2016Big museum, free WiFi, if you download their app you can access audio guides for free. Buy the museumkaart for quick easy access to this and other museums.
- Sofia UzDecember 23, 2015Obviosly a must! Renovations look great and collection is amazing! If you're in a hurry- skip 1st and 3rd floor, nothing too significant there, but 2nd floor is a must! Say hi to Rembrandt from me
