- If you have a choice flying into a DC airport Reagan ought to be your first choice. Easy metro accessibility, much smaller than Dulles and BWI, and it's large airy main building is visually stunning!Upvoted 3 weeks ago
- They are always remodeling and upgrading. Great urban airport with fast security gates and check-in. My favorite airport anywhere.Upvoted 1 week ago
- It's convenient and nearby downtown DC. Reasonably priced fast food and clean lavatories, too. Much better than Dulles or BWI.Upvoted 13 hours ago
- There's a nice little museum in the old Terminal A. It covers the history of the airport's location (originally Abingdon Plantation) and the evolution of the airport.Upvoted 3 weeks ago
- Pay the $100, have an interview and get GlobalAccess. Even if you're not an int'l freq flyer it will get you a Known Traveler # and you'll be rolling through TSA PreCheck before you know it.Upvoted Oct 5
- If going through security at Terminal A, if both security queue look equal length initially, take the left one. The right queue curls as it gets closer to the x-ray machine, thus making it longer.
- Great airport - security is lightning fast with Clear/PreCheck combined. Great dining options too. Make sure you get a burger from Good Stuff Eatery if you fly Delta.
- EdMarch 29, 2012As of March 2012, DC's two airports (DCA and IAD) are the only two places where you can try the breakfast menu at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. It's worth traveling to another terminal for.
- DoubleTree by HiltonAugust 7, 2013Don’t forget to check out 23 row! The row is full of all different types of cuisine options, so you’re sure to find your perfect meal rd Street in Arlington, also known as restaurant.
- Going to Metro from Terminal A? Take outdoor path thru parking lots - faster than internal walkway (but you miss the airport's history exhibits). Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoqCXT4IMk4
- Alexis BolinMay 19, 2013On our way home from CRS and NAR mid year meetings. It was great to see our friends. Buyer Legends was a huge success. Lots of good feedback from attendees.
- Try your best to stay outside of Terminal A before going through security checkpoint for this Terminal is really small and not a lot of seats available.
- Overall this is a fabulous airport. Best access to the city of any airport in the us that I know of. Bathrooms are terrible though
- Small airport. My favorite when I travel to Washington DC. Very easy to move around and less hectic than Dulles. Easy in and out. Metro station within walking distance (Blue line).
- AirlineGeeks.comOctober 6, 2013DCA features many observation areas: Balconies at the end of terminals B and C, windows along the concourse level, and a clear observation area that looks at terminal A and runway 1.
- Karen JohnsonApril 7, 2016This is a pretty decent sized international airport. Appreciate the fact that the Metro train station comes right in the terminal, thereby making travel to the city very convenient
- If you have time to kill, head over to terminal A, the original building. There are history displays, a museum, quiet restrooms, areas to lay on the floor, and the building itself is worth the trip.
- Fly in to DCA sitting on the left side of the plane and fly out sitting on the right. You'll have the best views for takeoff and landing.
- Great views during take off and landing (and even from the land), short walk to the Metro, and short security lines - just remember to call it National.
- Buy stamps at currency exchange near Brooks Brothers. USPS mail box is conveniently located next to currency exchange also. Buy & mail out thank you cards before you get on your flight!
- William WalkerJuly 30, 2019Came in with Air Canada from Mexico City to visit my brother. Great flight, remember to receive your declaration card while switching planes through Canada. To pick up bags at DCA across from Check in

Facebook.com/HonorFlightDCA - Nicole DonnellyDecember 9, 2013Ask your driver to point out all of the amazing sights on the drive to and from the airport. So much history in such a short distance!
- Go old school w/Southwest in Terminal A or newer school in Terminal B/C. More amenities in B/C, but whichever terminal, the sight lines of DC from the sky and of planes from the terminal are awesome.
- Andrea CAugust 12, 2014Lovely airport with scenic views of DC. I did have to sit on the runway a few extra minutes for the president to clear the airspace. That's the trade off for close proximity to DC. Worth it.
- Whenever possible, fly out of DCA instead of BWI or IAD... Mid day flight out = 4 mins to get through security. Most convenient, large city airport in the country!
- Pre check is good most of the time, unless it’s really early then it’s hit or miss, pro tip if coming at a busy time is to get your Uber to drop you off at arrivals instead of departures
- Good move, naming the national airport after the doddering fool who fired all the air traffic controllers.
- The Sky Priority/Pre-Check lines for the DL/AS gates are on the far right side near the DL shuttle check-in area. So if you see a long line, you can walk past everyone right up to the front ;).
- Melody TaylorApril 10, 2016This airport is so easy to depart from. It is easy access and small. Love it!
- Flying United or Delta and not checking bags? Ask to be dropped off at Alaska. You'll be right next to the B pier and it'll save you 5 mins of walking.Upvoted Sep 28
- Miguel DawkinsDecember 21, 2014It's nice to know that you can get to alot of the smaller cities that are typically off the radar of IAD or BWI...US Airways is the main airline there and their service does me great justice.
- U.S. Environmental Protection AgencyJuly 2, 2012Photography challenge! Check out this Documerica photo of a jet taking off from the airport in 1972. Take a photo of the airport today and submit it to our State of the Environment Photo Project. Read more
- Skip the cab line with the Curb app. Schedule a pickup at Terminals A, B or C and wait for your cab at the outer road at passenger pickup. [First time rider? Get $15 off with code "NOSURGE"]
- Presidential LibrariesJuly 28, 2011In 1998, DC's National Airport was renamed to honor the 40th President of the United States. The original idea came from Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform and the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project
- Chris KendallFebruary 19, 2016Stunning architecture in the main hall, can get busy but is still usually quite a calm experience, bags claim can be slow, some folks don't like you to call it Reagan.. like ex air traffic controllers
- Joey TowbinOctober 29, 2014If you are dropping someone off, park in the corresponding short-term parking lot. Do not park in another terminal's lot; the walk is very time consuming. We missed the flight. Now we know :)
- When you arrive, have your ride share pick you up on the upper deck. Much less congested due to the construction and easier to find each other.
- I love this airport!! It is easy in and out. The TSA lines are never too long. I just wish I could get international flights in and out of here.
- National Airport is awesome! Easy drive from Virginia where our family lives. Give yourself extra time to get to National coming from the south... Traffic can get nasty.
- One of the better airports on the east coast, also metro accessible. Surprisingly good and varied food options too!
- Come early and check out the art work. If it is a nice day, find the ruins of the old farm that is hidden out by the parking structure. Great place to just relax from the stress of traveling!
- Best airport in town. Easy in and out. Avoid Dulles (IAD) it you can.
- TSA lines aren't as horrible as you think; it moves along fairly quickly. When you get to the departures level you will find plenty of dining options, but seating can be difficult if not impossible.
- I fly through this airport quite a bit. The sushi restaurant by security is pretty good and has been fresh every time I've visited. Also, if you are tight on time, just let them know. They are quick!
- Doug CouchSeptember 16, 2021This is what every airport should be! Bright, wide, clean, comfortable and easy to navigate.
