This is Jewish brunch heaven. Just get there early if you don't want a long wait. Super Hebster -- whitefish salad, salmon, wasabi infused roe on bageltoast -- and the Lower Sunny Side (pictured).
Make an ideal platter for two with two classic spreads, but ask for the pastramilox and the (deliciously fatty) Scottish salmon. $32 is a steal for this feast.
Great brunch place with a focus on fish and caviar. For a classical taste order bagel with lox, and for more adventurous spirits go for Super Heebster. Also herring on bread is great with vodka
I'm sure the classic platter with lox is delicious, but go out of your comfort zone here. The super heebsterbageltoast is incredible. Come before 10 on weekends to skip the line!

i am in love with the throwback design of this place (take a look at their bags: the original phone number!). still a fan of the Super Heebster, the halvah ice cream, the latkes.
Try the chocolate babka French toast it is heavenly!!! Also recommend the Omelet with smoked salmon they make the egg extremely smooth and the salmon is packed with flavor
A great breakfastcafe. They serve a modern twist on Jewish deli classics. They will not seat you until your entire party is there. The bar is a great place to sit.
I've honestly never been huge on lox until I came here. Get the eggs benny with a bagel on the side. Don't skip the egg cream and Bloody Mary, either. Also, the coffee is incredible. What a place!
Somehow they improved on their 100 year old appetizing shop with this cafe. It just makes me so happy. Everything is amazing but you must order the ryeBloody Mary, Super Heebster, and lots of lox.
Very busy, but very delicious. Classic board with lox is great. Try the babkafrench toast for something sweet. Good coffee. Great bloody mary. The wait will be long, but definitely worth a go.
Chopped liver and trio of herring. Very tasty. The brown bread under the herring was a bit confusing, springy and a touch dry. They serve Streits matzo that is toasted, buttered and salted. So good.
Hackle back caviar and blinis, get them. Bloody Marys - I had one with caraway and another one with fenugreek. Get the classic lox on an everything bagel. Finish with challah bread pudding. Holla!
Check out their brunch. Get a classic spread of smoked fish, cream cheese, and a bagel, or go for one of the egg dishes, like matzoh brei, or scrambled eggs with lox and onion. Read more
Loved the diner interior and waiters in old fashioned white shirts. Brunch; Kippered and salmon spread w thin crispywaffle cut fries was flavoursome, fresh and nicely light. Mmmm. Bottomless coffee.
You're in New York, so you can get a good bagel or typical brunch any day. Don't mess around. Get as much lox as you can. Get as much herring as you can. Order vodka shots. Go hard or go home
Get the $70 platter! It says it's for 3-4 people but it'll easily serve 6-8 people if you also get appetizers. Try them all. Fresh butter & creme fraiche is a ++!
Head to this all-day cafe from the team behind century-old appetizing shop Russ & Daughters for smoked fish platters, caviar, blintzes, borscht, scrambled eggs with lox, and latkes with salmon roe. Read more
A nyc institution now with a bigger serving space. Get their shrub drink, liver and bagel. Bagel was light and perfect. Overall a great healthy option here!
took my parents here while they were in town. the exterior of the store is modest, but the cafe's classic platter really won my mom over & dad said the spinach in his eggs benny worked like "magic" ✨
The classic platter with an everything bagel is perfect. They give you just the right amount of everything and the salmon is perfect. The dillBloody Mary was the perfect way to round it out.
The last time I went there, I got the Shtetl sandwich board (which comes with sable). The time before, I got the Eggs Benny with lox. Both times? I was delighted! I loved the virgin Bloody Mary, too!
everything was delicious: shtetl plate, potato latkes, eggs Benny, and the first item on the seasonal herring specials menu. lower east side cocktail and Aquavit were also good. top with blintzes
Some people think this place is overrated but it is not. It was worth the 1+ hour wait. The classic platter with lox is excellent. Strong and tasty Bloody Mary. Love the old-fashioned interior.
The timeless appeal of the Russ & Daughters Cafe makes it a perfect spot any time of day: whether it's a for a light nosh, brunch, lunch, cocktails, dinner, or a special occasion.
Get a classic spread of smoked fish, cream cheese, and a bagel, matzoh brei, or scrambled eggs with lox and onion. For the less classically-inclined, there's also chocolate babka french toast.
Get here early and often. Any of the open-faced sandwiches are great but they also do some mean smoked fish spreads. Non-alcoholic beverages are amazing
The chopped liver was really good. You can ask for homemade potato chips instead of matzah if that's your speed. Standard bagel with lox and cream cheese is a must as well.
Always packed, Russ & Daughters managed to create a cafe that appeals to hipsters and elderly Jewish folk alike. It's hard to get a seat without a reservation but go on an off hour to snag a bar seat.
Ohhhh eggs Benny. The salmon was hypnotic! After the first bite all I was hearing was The 'Notic (Come Alive album, The Roots). Entrancing. Also went to crush island on the babkafrench toast, lordy.

Love the salmoneggs, Irish smoked salmon, horseradishcream cheese, and smoked troutmousse. They also carry an amazing rye bread and great assortment of canned fish.
You can't make a mistake here. Only thing that's necessary is that you eat smoked fish. Very comfortable. Good Bloody Mary. PastramiLox was great. I wish I tried the LEO.
The smoked whitefishchowdercaters to modern palates with the addition of espelette pepper. Its mellow smokiness softens in the cream base with flaky shreds of whitefish, root vegetables, & dill.
I got the Shtetl board and caraway Bloody Mary, both were amazing! Great atmosphere for brunch... worth the hour-long wait! Especially since they text when your table is coming available
Don't miss the super heebstertoast or the pickledherring trio. Then do any of the boards, a lower east side, and cap it off with some chocolate babka french toast.
