- Apos KlgnsSeptember 8, 2017It was one of the best meal I ate during my trip in USA. A small gem. We ordered the devil eggs and the pork. Portions were big and value for money.
- Kostis HatzitaskosAugust 9, 2014Some of the meats can be a little dry, but the pulled pork is usually great. One of the meat+sides dishes is usually more than plenty for one person. The cocktails are funky good too.
- A FMay 31, 2016Love the brisket plate (ask for lean meat). Good selection of sauces. Very please with the Grit Cake and Collared Greens.
- WhiskyAvengerJune 15, 2018Join their whisk(e)y club. Once you taste all they have to offer you get a complimentary bottle of whisk(e)y of your choice.
- Dave ZissouDecember 23, 2012aside from the pulled pork dishes, such as (boom...) and (pew pew) i had to definitely check out the pulled BBQ goat dish that's been there, and it didn't all the condiments, and just wow, perfect.
- JuergenSeptember 30, 2013Thanks to Elisabeth and the team we had a wonderful private party at Southpaw ;-) excellent food and drinks super friendly service and great place. We will come back!
- Naomi BruwerSeptember 14, 2015Amazing food. Smoked pulled pork and goat is simply delicious. Mac and cheese side amazing. Love the music and vibe. Delicious cocktails!
- WhiskyAvengerJune 15, 2018Personally I don’t come here for their bbq which is bland or their house brewed beer which is average. I go for their whisk(e)y selection that is top notch.
- Tim PursellJuly 16, 2015It's SF BBQ. Trendoid dipping sauces for the okra. BBQ comes as small plates. Just don't expect southern it Texas BBQ and you'll enjoy it. It's not ribs from Okie City but it'll do, pig.
- Their collard greens are always amazing. There's a selection of delicious vegan and vegetarian options including smoked seitan and jackfruit.
- Sit at the chef's bar in the back. The chef, Max, will share great info about your meal! Plus iit's one of the few seats where you don't have to stare at deodorant and car commercials while you eat.
- Kirk HerlitzNovember 5, 2015Oddly enough, Southpaw has one of the best cocktail menus I've experienced in SF. The bourbon based "Safeword" is deliciously dangerous!
- ShaunaMarch 24, 2013The food is amazing. Try the smoked pulled goat. I know, I know, but trust me, it's really really good.
- Sarah Bruning MeronNovember 3, 2013Brussels sprouts with bacon cream. They're shredded like cole slaw and really just a bacon cream delivery device, but you get to be the person at table to virtuously order a vegetable.
- William JohnsonFebruary 11, 2016Brisket had a surprisingly large amount of fat. The bacon cheese grit cake was incredible though.
- The beef brisket and all the fixins! Fantastic BBQ, but the fried chicken and game hen are a bit on the dry side.
- Christina LorSeptember 23, 2012The collards might be better than some places back home! Brussels Sprouts, crunchy mac & cheesy grits are a must! Hush puppies need some work.
- Hattie StroudNovember 17, 2015Deliciously vinegary pulled pork, fried pickles, and a great cocktail menu. Love this place.
- Steven LuAugust 27, 2014Great BBQ. If you're getting brisket, make sure you ask for lean & fatty! Their fatty brisket had WAY too much fat for me to appreciate.
- Try the Old 38 Stout Beer - A great recommendation from the waitress. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but this stuff is fantastic. Rich and smooth.
- Beer 47December 9, 2014Be sure to get samples of the house beer before getting a pint. Unfortunately, it can be hit and miss. Luckily they have plenty of guest beers on tap.
- Derek HammerSeptember 8, 2015Great for group events! Price was reasonable and we had a ton of great food to share
- Scott AngelleAugust 31, 2014Pulled pork was fantastic. Nice generous portion. Hamhock & Cheddar Grit Cake was incredible
- annie 🧸February 10, 2013Idea: if here with one other person, order a single BBQ meal platter (comes with 2 sides) and one or two appetizers
- Norris TranJanuary 5, 2015Bbq beef brisket w/horseradish mash potatoes and bacon laced Brussels sprouts
- joanneNovember 24, 2011if you get sides, MAKE SURE one of them is the black eyed peas. if the other happens to be coleslaw, put a bunch of mustard vinaigrette on it. SO GOOD.
- LuckySeptember 20, 2014Beers are good, service friendly, but meats are a lil dry, agree that the smoked goat plate (entree) is very tasty, overall a lil overrated.
- The brisket is one big slab of fat and no meat. I was disappointed with the chicken first time I came here too. If you want some real BBQ try hi lo around the corner...
- joanneNovember 21, 2011the house sazerac is fuckin ace. my "litmus test" cocktail, an old-fashioned, was also solid. didn't try the food, but the six-pack of pepper and vinegar-based sauces show promise.
- Jon JohnsonFebruary 19, 2012If they have the Brian Wilson on the drink menu give it a shot. It's a surprisingly good beer cocktail with stout, Jameson and Tuaca.
- Dave ZissouDecember 23, 2012natchez, cheesy grit cake, fried green tomato, goat cheese rosti, memphis ribs, nice beer selection,
- Carina AndersenJune 14, 2015Happy hr 5-7; pulled pork corndogs, smoked chicken nuggets $7, prohibition sweet tea $5
- Get the four sides for $14 to share. Great deal, and filling. Best grits I've had in SF.
- Best selection of sides I've ever seen. Fried pickles were amazing.
- The sides are good enough for a meal, and great beer and whisky beaides.
- Luah FontanaSeptember 24, 2013The pulled goat. OMG the pulled goat. Do it, don't ask questions. It's DELICIOUS!
- Tommy LeepJanuary 16, 2012Try the pulled pork, so tasty. The sides rock, especially the sprouts. Ask for the special sauce. It will bite you back.
- Fried Green Tomatoes, and whatever happens to be the house beer for the evening is always a good choice.
- James KwokNovember 13, 2012Treat your friends to the pickle back, featuring dickel no. 12, for a fun experience!
