- If you have a choice between national ID and passport, go for passport because it will save you lots of time when entering the UK using the automatic passport/face scanners.Upvoted 3 days ago
- Slightly ridiculous there are no water fountains at the main hall - head to the gates to top up your water bottle, it's by gate 45 and you can always go back.Upvoted 1 week ago
- If you want to refill your water bottle, the only fountain is provided by Itsu, located left of their tills. Free to use for anyone.Upvoted 2 weeks ago
- A lot less congested than Heathrow and Gatwick. The Windmill Wetherspoons pub does very good value food and real ales.Upvoted 1 week ago
- Jonathan DaddsDecember 13, 2013The zip bags that half the tips are complaining about paying for; they give them out at the bag X-ray bit free of charge. Quite polite too! (I'm here really early though if that makes a difference)
- Time your arrival to be here as little as possible... since the recent refurbishment it’s full of crap retail little seating and a general feeling of claustrophobia...
- Winnie Ka MingJune 3, 2018Worst airport I have ever been to. Absolute chaos - lack of information, disorganized, crazily crowded, WiFi doesn’t work. Basically you can find all the elements of a bad airport here.
- Pedro SilvaDecember 18, 2014If you lost your flight, find your way back to the outside area by following missed flights VP9 (go back through the way you came and you will eventually find it). Ryanair has a flat rate of 110£.
- No water fountains but if you ask nicely, Pret staff will refill your bottle for free :)
- AndrewSeptember 13, 2018The new ikea style terminal is like squirming through a money extracting lower intestine of a nutritionally depraved hyena
- Honestly a lot better than it used to be since the renovation. I’ll choose Stansted over Gatwick if coming from East London. (All is 100x better than Luton.)
- The airport is so much nicer after the renovation, lots of eateries and shops to choose between + large duty free shop.
- Only nightmare worse than IKEA is a SURPRISE IKEA!!! Literally the last place you'd expect to be trapped. Run thru infinite sales tunnels to catch a plane, dragging a dumb bag cuz RyanAir I hate you
- After some recent renovation, the airport operates well better. Security lanes take 3-10 minutes, even in a really busy day. If you are flying with Ryan air, stop moaning, you should know the rules.
- Suna EralpNovember 3, 2015Stansted express train has %50discount if you buy 1 month before your journey. It takes 50 minutes from London Liverpool street station to airport. Some gates are accessible by a train within airport.
- Alastair HiltonOctober 13, 2014It's an airport so you'll hate every minute here. Lots of queues and lots of getting all your liquids taken off you. What more could you ask for from an airport?
- Stefy RfwSeptember 3, 2014Nice airport! Costa coffe open all night! It is good if you need to wait your plane early in the morning. If you get here early you can find a comfortable seat!
- Olga OrlovaMarch 14, 2015Once 1 hour of free wi-fi (per device) has expired, you can still use: foursquare app, most google products (search, plus, blogspot, etc, but not gmail), the airport's official website (obviously)
- The Nightmare of all London’s airports. If you’re used to smooth travel, forget about it when getting to Stansted. The specialty is to create many unique travel rules making you hate to travel!
- Lauma ZAugust 25, 2014Easy to get there by train (40 min from Liverpool Station) or bus, otherwise the airport is far away from London. Free WiFi is available for an hour and there are many shops ( quite expensive though).
- I really like that airport. It's crowded, sometimes the organization is bad but still it has its own charm. Try to get the latest flight once. You'll be surprised how calm it is.
- Chris January 26, 2015Great airport! Closer to the city, lots of shops for the last-minuters and upgrading works to make it even better.
- Edgars BudreikoMay 14, 2014Passport controll officer wished my girlfriend happy birthday :) With Ryanair u can take your cabin lugadge + a small handbag and now they have allocated seats aswell. Good value for price.
- If you are early do not go through security, the departure lounge has 1 atom of floor space, surrounded on all sides by shops, whatever seats there are people cling onto them like life rafts.
- Ewe Jin LeeDecember 13, 2014Get the meal deal for £3.75 at WHSmith which includes a sandwich, a drink and a snack bar/fruit for a quick bite. Try the piri piri chicken if you can't make up your mind!
- Phil HApril 7, 2014If you get there and the Wetherspoons is so full they turn you away, don't worry! Follow on around the corner and there is a bar around the back
- Serena MarijaMarch 1, 2018Clean and modern but always far too cold from the dozens of automatic doors opening, not great when you are sat waiting for your flight in the early hours of the morning and it is freezing!
- Quick lines at security. Nice offering of shops and restaurants. Take the train to reach London.
- Tanya VNovember 27, 2016Impressively busy airport with lots of shops and cafes. Keep an eye on your flight status since it's a long walk from the entrance to gates entangled with shops
- Shannon HerlihyOctober 14, 2019Everything comes out at security - laptops, tablets, cell phones, liquids - and shoes and jackets need to come off. And everything must go in a bin.
- Peter JohnsonJune 12, 2014When you foolishly forget to print your boarding pass again & Ryanair is demanding your first born child; head down to isle A and print it for £1 per hour & £1 per page at the computer kiosk.
- My favourite regional airport, but beware if picking up / dropping off - short stay parking is extortionate. 2hrs free parking at nearby Birchanger Services - wait there for your passenger to call!
- Loving the new look with some good shopping and selection of restaurants. The electronic check in machines will let you have 20.9 kg before charging you.
- Stansted Express is running perfectly to Liverpool Street and it is the best way to commute. There is almost always a long queue for passport control upon landing
- Joran KikkeJune 13, 2012To get through security as fast as possible, join a queue that is near the middle. These queues feed both sides of the security islands, while the end queues only feed one side so move half the speed.
- This is a modern quite simple functional airport. Right now is undergoing through some renovations so the main waiting area is very crowded so i advise to buy whatever yo have to buy and go directly
- Jonathan M.November 26, 2015Well organized, great waiting area with lots of places to eat, to buy.. Great airport!
- If you like shopping, this is great. But plan in enough time to go to gates as you are guided along all shops, wasting a lot of time #stansted#inefficient#
- You can catch planes from here. There is also a direct train to London Liverpool Street. A few shops and cafes in the airport, it's what you'd typically expect of an airport.
- The security wall has moved so ponti's is now after security. No one can find it yet though so it's a nice quiet place to sit!
- Phil MarshallMay 4, 2013Dropping people off by car? Follow signs for express set down, then you pay £2 at the exit. There's a change machine but you can pay by card! Free set down is at a car park a short free bus ride away
- Security here can be SUPER slow, invest in Fast Track. Train is the quickest (and IMHO, best) way to and from the city, unless you're going to the outskirts of London, then Uber might be better.
- Escape Lounge a good refuge ... Good selection of hot and cold food (pies, sausage rolls; potato, bean, green & couscous salads)
- VOJTA MAREK.March 12, 2022this has to be the weirdest airport I’ve ever been at. such an odd, unreasonably spacious space that’s giving a very uncomfortable vibe.
- Artur LeonelSeptember 3, 2018Very busy airport. Must get there with good anticipation. They have a good place to eat with several options.
- I have mixed feelings about this airport. Yes, it is the cheapest one to get to London (Ryanair), but it is annoying that the Oyster Card doesn’t do the trick for the public transport.
- Use the bridge bar hidden around the corner from Wetherspoons but well sign posted - it's much quieter & therefore quicker service.
- There's computers with printer in several places around the checkins to print boarding passes. Takes £2 of coins—pricier but no mucking around for a copy shop/net cafe in town, especially on Sunday!
- if you are early and looking for quite place follow the 81-88 gates sign.
