- Untapped CitiesJanuary 18, 2018Sushi Azabu’s cool, subterranean ambiance is paired with some of the most authentic Japanese sushi in all of New York. It is truly a dining experience unlike anywhere else in the city. Read more
- Gordon YuFebruary 14, 2014Can't go wrong here. Grab a bar seat & leave it in the hands of the capable chefs. The flavorful black throat fatty snappy, buttery Hakkaido uni & best o-toro anywhere are absolute must haves.
- jansen cMarch 20, 2016Michelin one star, good selection and authentic sushi. I would recommend the omakase and follow their fresh taste of the day to make the most of your tasting experience!
- Joe DMarch 9, 2016Come with your +1. Ask to sit at the sushi bar. Make sure one of you gets the uni tasting. Get a bit tipsy and soak in the experience.
- Elizabeth BursteinNovember 16, 2018Awesome sushi speakeasy. Came here for my 30th celebration with zeina. Loved the nigiri sampler and the the crab (ok) and the seaweed salad
- Edward KimAugust 3, 2013Call in 2 weeks ahead for reservations. Neck to neck with Yasuda, but Azabu edges out on the rice this time. Chef's omakase is a must. Uni from Hokkaido is the sh!t, so don't bother with Cali uni.
- DesireeJune 18, 2014My very first omakase. Nice small intimate space. Very tradtional, super fresh...especially the tuna, sea urchin, and salom roe. Excellent service. The heated toilet seat was pretty awesome too.
- Margarita KrupDecember 20, 2016Tasting menu was AMAZING! The Uni melted in your mouth. Reserve a spot at the counter and watch the magic happen.
- Time Out New YorkJune 4, 2013This stealthy sushi shrine—tucked away in the basement of Greenwich Grill—attracts solo diners who happily hobnob with the talkative chefs while popping exceptional nigiri morsels into their mouths. Read more
- Alice M. HuynhSeptember 14, 2014Head to head to Yasuda, definitely worth the money! Make a reservation for Omakase and enjoy every single bite! Also try the apple sorbet as dessert ! Awesome!
- Michelin Travel & LifestyleDecember 2, 2013Faithful renditions of traditional sushi are a highlight. Also try tender Wagyu beef tataki or chawan mushi with crab. – Green Guide Editor
- KinoApril 14, 2016Very expensive. Avoid the Uni Tasting. The Local Uni (Santa Barbara) was better than the Japan Uni from northern Hokkaido. The Wagyu Steak was excellent. The King Crab (pictured) was good.
- DanwenAugust 26, 2014Good not amazing. Though first time having Hokkaido uni here. Will be back for live uni nights.
- Village VoiceSeptember 12, 2013Order the Bakudan-Nattō topped with a quail egg, with homemade soy sauce and scallions. It's a local's favorite!
- Matty CitoMay 10, 2015An experience. One of my true Uni wake up calls with @joh and the inkman. I dream of it weekly
- DragondenisJune 20, 2013They won't allow you to order sushi without a reservation. But if you are getting sushi - definitely do the koi menu - absolutely worth it.
- Michelle WilesMarch 1, 2017If you're gonna come here you gotta do the tasting menu. Some of the best I've had in the city.
- No Leftovers Jackie GebelJanuary 11, 2017Amazing omakase! On the quieter side for an NYC restaurant, in a good way
- Grace S.January 16, 2011Highlights were the fatty tuna and king salmon sashimi, butterfish grilled collar, smoked wagyu nigiri and fruit meringue roll for dessert. Everything was out of this world!
- Princess Abigail BacaniJanuary 23, 2013Inside the Greenwich Grill is another restaurant hidden within. Head for the waiter station, swish through a black curtain and descend the stairs to a secret sushi den. Reservations are required.
- Michael OhrDecember 14, 2013Best sushi I ever had. Go for the Chef's Omakase Course, you won't be disappointed!
- Grace S.January 26, 2014+Wagyu beef nigiri, king salmon, fatty tuna, Red snapper collar, avocado uni, meringue roll
- S. FanAugust 14, 2013Santa Barbara uni vs. Hokkaido uni on the house. Friend with the chef, Terado San, now :)
- Charles BJuly 24, 2019not the best value in town, but a really delicious omakase if you’re looking for something in this hood.
- Rafi RomeroAugust 9, 2015Got the 10-piece nigiri. It was ok. Tanoshi in the UES is still my favorite sushi place in the city by far.
- let terado san wow you with the variety of sushi. end the meal with matcha meringue roll that melts in your mouth.
- Ron GFebruary 19, 2011Very uneven service and food. Far from the best in NYC. I would settle for sometimes the best below 14th St, but not reliable enough. Not much competition in Tribeca.
- Moto NakamuraDecember 28, 2011This is best Sushi restaurant in NYC I ever had. Please order "Omakase course". That is very reasonable.
- KaydeeApril 23, 2010Sit at sushi bar downstairs in the comfy tall chairs for a more intimate experience. Order the Koi course for a great sampling of nigiri.
- JenFebruary 20, 2014Their nigiri set doesn't compare to Ushi's. Don't spend your money here if you are looking to get your piece of uni and toro scallion rolls
- Alex GodinSeptember 17, 2012The splotches on the painting are actually eel sauce that got sprayed on the wall.
- Michelin Travel & LifestyleAugust 16, 2011Go with the sushi or sashimi omakase here. You surely won’t be disappointed. - Inspector
- Eugene AuhAugust 5, 2010Go on your birthday, get the omakase or pretty much anything, get a special cocktail from barman upstairs, leave happy
