- If you are in mood for great summer and refreshing drink with Ginger candies and Bourbon - The Penicillin is a must try! Pro Tip: It's not always on the menu, but you can still order it!
- Russell HirschornFebruary 9, 2016Excellent, excellent whiskey list, VERY reasonably priced. Very nice place, gets crowded, service is fast, they turn tables. Got a pickleback w/ four roses and an Akashi White Oak blend
- The fried pickles were amazing, but I had to tell literally everyone I know about the Frozen Peach Cobbler cocktail. Please keep that around because I need to order it about 18405837 more times.
- You can’t dislike a neighborhood bar this good. Same owners as a handful of other popular bars, but genuinely great on its own merit.
- A very nice bar but can get crowded. Great for singles, mingling, and meeting new people. They serve good drinks and the fried pickles are pretty cool.
- Aleson HoAugust 2, 2015Many thumbs up for the cocktails. Also, I love any bar that serves bacon mac and cheese, but this one is particularly yummy. I saw they have pickle backs and a pickle cocktail that I want to try!
- Gabriel HayesJuly 17, 2015Loved the Mac & Cheese. Made with scallions, new york state cheddar, muenster & gruyere. Get the Double Smoked Brooklyn Bacon on it.
- New York HabitatApril 23, 2014This is a cute after work spot. Try their delicious mac & cheese and their specialty cocktails!
- Very Williamsburg. Happy Hour $4 drafts. Sweet Afton Breakfast Burger (Pat Lafreida beef, fried egg, & bib lettuce) during brunch (until 6:30pm) is delicious. Mac & Cheese and Fried Pickles are tasty.
- You have to try the deep fried pickles, the ribs, the Afton burger with Gruyere and also, a side of fries with dashings of malt vinegar! Service here is always awesome, best bar in Astoria...
- Get anything with pickles in it (def the martini). This is a great space with a great menu and service. Very well done.
- BasakJanuary 21, 2016Come here for delicious food and four dollar happy hour beer. Definitely try the burger!
- Graylyn RooseJuly 29, 2016Fried pickles are amazing and you have to try the fried chicken sandwich. The fish tacos were very good too. Pretty much anything on the menu is a win.

- Jereme BivinsAugust 7, 2014Fantastic beer menu and awesome food -- especially for brunch. Atmosphere is laid back and comfortable, and there's blue-grass/folk music on Monday nights.
- I love weekend brunch and afternoon drinks. Mike makes the best cocktails in the Burroughs, and the breakfast burger of chicken and biscuit can't be beat.
- Time Out New YorkFebruary 1, 2012This laid-back Queens gastropub offers an array of reasonably priced suds from craft breweries like Sixpoint, Lagunitas and Captain Lawrence. Complement your brew with beer-battered McClure’s pickles. Read more
- Elvis RodricksApril 4, 2015Decent brunch. Had sumtin diff - the tea infused rum cocktail. Reco the beer battered pickle with beer. Avocado Toast was a simple and right execution. Seems g8 for after hours drinks with a group.
- Rich BinningJanuary 9, 2012Favorite Astoria bar! Also, the mushroom burger is the BEST in the city. Any day of the week there is a good crowd. Drinks are great, bartenders awesome, vibe is always fun.
- Probably one of the best bars in Queens. Serious cocktails that are all surprisingly priced under 10 bucks. Always a packed house with tons of fun!
- GothamistMay 29, 2015There's not much space here, but what's offered up is a lovely stone-walled cloister complete with wreaths and hanging plants, a perfect spot for imbibing cocktails.
- Chris BattiasOctober 26, 2013Best thing on the menu is the Bua Fried Chicken Sandwich. Get a side of spicy mayo with it. The ribs and burger are ok. The fried pickles are so-so at best IMHO. Breading to pickle ratio is off.
- Adam ThompsonAugust 27, 2013Happy hour brunch! I will order for you: Burger medium rare with gruyere and bacon. Black coffee. Brown ale. Yes it was delicious. You're welcome.
- Sean SmithNovember 1, 2014Comfort pub food and great tap list. I love the sauce that comes with the fried pickles!
- A great authentic bat spot with a solid menu and creative beverage list. Atmosphere is excellent with a solid local crowd.
- Fantastic pub! Always friendly staff, and very solid drinks/fare. We need a place like that in Brooklyn. 😘
- Love the environment here, though it can get crowded in the evening and on the weekends. Check out the back porch if the weather's good.
- Enough with the fried pickle tips. We get it. When you're here, get yourself a Rootbeer Cocktail. If you're hungry, share the Mac and Cheese. If you're feeling frisky, talk to the girl at the bar.
- Escape CardonaDecember 13, 2015Awesome place to grab a drink. It gets crowded but the good kind of crowded. The drinks are pretty good. The atmosphere is great.

- Selena FrederickJune 13, 2011Everyone talks a big game about the mac and cheese, but don't forget to try the ribs. Also, their brunch Grilled Cheese with gruyere is amazing. Agree with the red lemonade, though. Mmmm.
- Irish pub that has a wonderful menu of drinks and food. No TVs so you can actually have a conversation. Cute and cozy.

- Beer Goggins GogginMarch 9, 2010Pickles, fried or no, are fantastic. They've also got a decent beer selection. In the summer, go in the afternoon and take a seat out back. Not the biggest patio but it's relaxing.
- The french toast sticks and chorizo hash 😍! Plus any cocktail...
- DavidAugust 9, 2014Delicious pickle martinis and fried pickles - usually with a bluegrass band on Mondays. One of the best bars in Astoria.
- Vince FrisinaMarch 5, 2019The cocktails are outstanding. I had the Upstate with my brunch and went back for a second round.
- Morgan PolotanApril 5, 2015Has some of the best cocktails in Astoria, and their kale Cobb salad is delicious. Good whisky selection.
- Laura BoutwellMay 26, 2014The fried pickles are the best in town, and the music is usually really good, too. And of course always tasty beers.
- Scott MAugust 3, 2010Solid spot. Great staff, beer of the month, fried pickles, grilled cheese... The mac n cheese is a pretty big deal, my sugg is to split it w someone, its a lot of cheese (but yes its good)
