I love the ambiance at this sit-down taco joint. Hip, colorful, tasty. If you're drinking, try the michelada - a spicy beer-based concoction they do well. I get the veg or fish tacos, never disappoint
Really cool authentic taco place- I loved the fun decor and the taco truck cash register! It's $6 per taco and they are really small. You end up spending a lot for a little & they don't come w chips
So I was wrong or my NYC Mexican expectations have tempered, but these are some of the best tacos downtown. Crispy fish, chorizo & egg stand out...plus the fun atmosphere and reasonable price.
A "combi" is a Volkswagen Type 2 bus: made in Puebla and ubiquitous in Mexico until the mid-90s. I rode the back of a combi to pre-school every day; now you can watch your tacos made inside one.
Honestly disappointed. Tacombi used to be my favorite Mexican spot in the city. Now a lot of the tacos are just meat on a shell. The avocado one however is still perfect
Loved. Real mexican Times and flavors with great ingredients. Chilango, barbacoa, carnitas all amazing. Only miss is al pastor, skip that. Jalapeñosalsa is amazing.

Small Mexican joint in Nolita that serves up amazing tacos - we especially love tacos al pastor. The best part: tacos are served in corn tortillas, so your gluten-free friends can still enjoy!
Mouthwatering Tacos.Horchata is a great drink to go with their spicy sauces. Their chips are on point. Really cool space, perfect for parties or large groups. Don't miss out on this dining experience.
The "huevos con chorizo" breakfast taco is amazing and a perfect level of "slightly spicy." Larger than a taco / about the size of a small burrito, it's the right size if you're moderately hungry.
Coolest. Taqueria. Ever. Bringing the outside inside made for a unique and memorable meal. Like everyone says, get the fish tacos, but try a bit of everything!
Don't fuck around, get the tacos – hot and greasy, much like the hour long que for a table. Where else you gonna go, some back-street taco truck? Please.
One of my fave places for mexican food in the city. Solid guac, with nice portion size. All tacos are great, esp the breakfast tacos, try chorizo and egg on soft flour tortilla.
Love the casual vibe & the tacos! The guacamole con totopos is awesome - perfect homemade crunch, and the corn esquites is yummy w/out the mess of eating corn off the cob (& not as small as they say).
Fresh pressed juices that will make your mouth water for literally days afterward and some of the best tacos in the city. I recommend the corn (omg, the corn), two tacos, and a juice!
corn esquites are the highlight: creamy, spicy, and citrusy with a subtle smoky flavor, one order is more than enough for two to share - if you're willing
Probably the best tacos I've had in NYC hands down. Get the pork belly and crispy fish tacos. Split the tortilla shell to make 2 into 4 tacos. The sauces are also delicious. Habanero is spicy!
The only move with these mini tacos is to separate each tortilla and split the contents - instantly double your order for free! 3 tacos is the perfect amount for lunch.
Tasting Table Top 10 Tacos: "huevos a la Mexicana are made w/scrambled eggs are cradled in slightly doughy flour tortillas w/slow-cooked peppers, caramelized onions & house-made tomatillo salsa"
So incredibly good. The corn is 2nd best on block but that's only bc cafe habana is down street. Corn is much easier to eat though as its off the cob. Don't leave here without a spicy fishbaja style
Horchata was very refreshing on a hot steamy day. Watch the red sauce... it was REALLY spicy. Fish tacos were yummy with avocadocrema. Corn with Chipotle mayo was addicting.
I go out of my way to visit this place whenever I'm in town. Either of the fish tacos - veracruzean or crispy - will treat you right. Wash them down with a glass of horchata.
Each taco comes with two corn tortillas which you can easily make two tacos with! Great chips with guac, chips are thick and remind me of Juanita's chips from the west coast.
Being from the west coast, my standards for legit Mexican food are pretty high. This place exceed them. Try the esquites, the porktaxis and of course the guacamole. Skip the tea, go for a marg.
Everything about this place from the food, the drinks and the interior- it's so well designed. Get the two types of fish tacos and try all the sauces on the table. Some of the best tacos in NYC
Perf. Taco. Spot. Personal favs are the crispy fish taco and the polloadobo. Complete the meal with fresh sandia (watermelon juice). Atmosphere is darling and authentic.
$3.50+ for a taco is kind of ridiculous especially since these are some tiny tacos BUT they are pretty damn good and the Michelada was one of the best ive had.. alambre, fish and roast pork combo BOOM
Such an interesting and unique set up in this restaurant. The VW van where the tacos are made is a really cute addition. The food was good and reasonably priced.
If it's your first time, go with a crispy fish taco and a breakfastchorizo. If you've been before, just work your way down the list – everything's awesome.
Great place! Loved the corn esquites. Also good to know that each taco comes with two tortillas and a lot of meet so one taci can be turned onto two :) Best taco is the crispy ensenada fish
Favorites: crispy fish, short rib, huevos con chorizo, maiz y poblano. Make two tacos by spreading the fillings into the two tortillas provided and try a bunch with a friend.
Fantastic spot with fun decor. Excellent guacamole 🥑. Delicious soft shell tacos. And a great selection of refreshing drinks. I'm a sucker for the sandia juice🍉.
The Ground beef and the pork tacos are the way to go. Crispy fish tacos get an honorable mention. You cannot beat the place's amazing laid back ambiance.
Definitely get chips & guac to share with the table. Also, can't go wrong with the crispy fish taco & pork belly tacos. Lastly, try all the sauces on the table!
At lunch time, take a comfortable seat at a high-top table and indulge in a delicious array of tacos. Fish are especially tasty. (note: 1 taco order can be 2 if you split the tortillas)
Born on the balmy beaches of the Yucatan and now open in Nolita, Tacombi at Fonda Nolita offers you authentic Mexican cuisine, ice cold beer and a piece of the Mexican beachside lifestyle.
