Walk the track from visitor centre to the summit back down to the sulphur pit on the other side! From there you can catch a minibus back to the centre. Amazing views!
Loved this little spot, a small museum and tea house where writer and inventor Lin Yutang used to live. Get a bunch of teas and watch the sunset over Taipei.
Fun to roam around. "Hands" store upstairs has lots of weird/cute goodies. Food court downstairs (incl DTF)
Hot & crowded, the Shilin Night Market is not for the faint of heart. But come with energy and you'll be rewarded with everything from stinky tofu, oyster omelets & rice noodles among many treats.
Excellent walking street with street food and boutiques. Be sure to explore the side lanes too. Parks & people-watching, easily accessible (directly on the subway exit). Din Tai Fung OG location!
English menu at the counter where you order. If you get the milk tea, you can choose the percentage of ice and sugar (went with 50% sugar, was sweet but not too sweet). Small or large boba pearls.
Nice big park with its of people/bird/light brown poodle watching :). MRT and Ubike station nearby.
Not as hectic as some of the other markets. The main drags are along the water and one street in. We found peanut ice cream burritos on the waterfront. Also a good black sesame dessert store.
First and still the only 24hr bookstore in Taipei. Definitely high on everyone's must-do, must-see list! This is the Dunnan flagship. Check out Xinyi branch just 2 metro stops away.(Kat)
Sort of like an Eataly/upscale whole foods for seafood. Specialty market, sushi bar, hot pot, seafood resto, etc. Sushi menu is Chinese bit waiters were v helpful.
The set menu is a great great deal. Looks pricy, but the whole set is cheap once it's all served. The sashimi is must must order. You get flooded with Uni if you like it.
Nice compact row of food stalls with seating. Liked the mochi balls with sesame/peanut
Grab some street food and head on over to one of the benches under the shady trees. A nice spot for people watching.
Concerts regularly on wknds, weeknd creative market great find of local artists' works, Taiwanese buffet restaurant is superb w/all-u-can drink BEER! (Kat)
One of the best tea houses in the world, Wistaria couples a strong political & cultural history with top quality Chinese & Taiwanese teas. An ideal place to learn about classic gongfucha preparation.
I preferred the fatty braised pork; Thomas preferred the ground. English menu if you ask! Greens, egg, and bitter melon soup also good.
