- Serious EatsNovember 15, 2013With 8 full vintage bowling lanes and a separate sit-down bar area with pool and a dozen craft beers on tap, The Gutter is a great destination for an activity-packed night.
- For the bowling purists out there, go here instead of the trendier Brooklyn Bowl nearby. Grab some friends, a pitcher of Victory Prima, and avoid the lanes with poles.
- Yolanda ShoshanaOctober 8, 2011This place is hot, it's a dive meets bowling. It couldn't be more fun. You bring your own eats, but get your beer and wine at the friendly bar. Cheap and awesome! A great crowd. You will love it!
- L. T.August 4, 2015This place is rad. Plenty of lanes and a great bar. The stage in the back room has a bar too. And unisex bathrooms deserves an applause. I'll be coming here more often.
- now there is a back room for shows. walk to the left like you're going to the bathroom and you'll find an awesome venue with a bar. you'll be thankful you won't have to wait at the other one.
- cheaper and more brooklyn vibey bowling alley. Grab a pitcher of beer and play some pool while you wait an hour for a lane. Order pizza from BEST PIZZA if you get hungry.
- LianyDecember 9, 2018Cheap booze and great vibes. Lanes are cash only, and wait time can be long Friday nights/weekends but you can kill time hearing live music in the back. Bathrooms are pretty rad.
- OkCupid Daters' ChoiceJuly 13, 2017The Gutter was voted Best Date Spot for Friendly Competition by OkCupid users in the first-ever Daters' Choice Awards! Tap Read more for additional date spot categories in New York City. #daterschoice Read more
- AnthonyJanuary 24, 2015Bowling alley is small so get there early. Order in from their extensive takeout menu and chill with friends over beer and pool
- Spotted by Locals - city guides by localsSeptember 30, 2013Not very cheap, but if you go on the early or late side, then you can hit happy hour which gets you $ 1 off beers and 2-for-1 bowling on Fridays from 14:00 – 18:00 and Sunday – Thursday after 01:00. Read more
- CompassJuly 24, 2013Live music, DJ nights, and comedy shows fill up the back room of The Gutter, a hybrid bowling alley and bar that's open until 4am every day of the week.
- Long wait time and cash only for bowling, but the bar takes card and the booze is cheap!
- DK FilmiApril 21, 2013Looking for alleged rats running thru bar... Randomly walked in on some amazing music downstairs... Better down here than upatairs.. Pants Exploder... Music to match the name ... Awesome
- amNewYorkSeptember 28, 2011The owners imported the lanes at this bowling alley bar hybrid from an old-school alley in Burlington, Iowa, to add to the vintage feel.
- Mischa AbakumovaJune 17, 2014Come here to watch the World Cup! It doesn't get as crowded as many other places. Bring a snack!
- UntappdJanuary 16, 2013Awesome bowling with great craft beer! $7 per hour, per person - which is a good deal. Get there early, because there are only around 8 lanes!
- Zii HammadApril 15, 2015Huge place with a stage in the back. Good beer, and a great escape from the awful places in the area.
- Ryan EickDecember 22, 2017A great bowling alley. But it can be a bit of a pain to get a game of bowling in on the weekend nights
- Hannah WarrenDecember 6, 2018No-frills (they only accept cash for bowling) but the lanes are nice and we had a great time for a group outing.
- Jordan TopfApril 27, 2013Earlier the better chance of getting a lane, get a bag of pretzels, a Narragansett, kick back. Apparently the vintage looking lanes are from a bowling alley in rural ohio that was shut down in the 70s
- Lukas ThomsApril 12, 2017Uh this place is awesome and amazing - the dive bar equivalent to Brooklyn Bowl's glitzy bowling.
- Patrick WeltyJanuary 11, 2015Pitchers of cold beer and bowling. What more does one need in this world?
- Jenny SorensenApril 8, 2015The Gutter is a laidback dive with cheap drinks, torn leather booths, pool tables, a bowling alley and yesterdays newspaper. Read more

- Village VoiceJanuary 17, 2014Go for the trivia on Monday nights where you can win a chance to bowl for free!
- It's small and divey and the lanes are a bit slow, but they've got great beer, ample restrooms, a pool table, and bubble hockey!
- Doug WamplerJanuary 5, 2014To walk through the doors is to peel back 40 years and transport yourself to a small town bar/bowling alley.
- Slice Pizza BlogNovember 10, 2010Save beef jerky and candy bars, there is no food at The Gutter. You have to order delivery. From a pizza standpoint, if you're not ordering from Best Pizza or Fornino, you've just rolled a gutterball.
- Brian RiesMarch 1, 2015Order pizza while you wait for a lane and, if you time it right, you can eat and bowl simultaneously.
- Sam SaundersApril 17, 2011The more dents the ball, the more strikes you get. Also- don't eat with, or lick, the fingers you bowl with. Trust me. The bathroom sinks are the least used in Brooklyn.
- Jesse LashDecember 1, 2013If it's busy, assume at least 15 minutes per number on the ticket counter. They'll tell you it'll move faster, just watch...
- Lane 8 will eat your ball. Lane 7 will drop the pins. Lane 6 is just the worst. Lane 5 has a goddamn pole in the way. Lane 4 is perfect in every way. Lanes 1-3 are fine I guess.
- If you're trying to bowl on a weekend night, get here early and drink at the bar til it's your turn.
- popular for private parties around the holidays so you might want to call ahead come mid-December
- Angie GannonFebruary 20, 2011This place is awesome. Be prepared to wait a while for a lane but that gives you plenty of time to get lubricated beforehand with the cheap pitchers of beer.
- If you're going to bowl get a pitcher beforehand and keep the game moving.
- Amanda LenJanuary 29, 2012Make it a potluck!! You can bring/order take out. And then order the amazing beers on Tap
