- This place has awesome chicken and rice. I never usually get chicken, but it isn't dry and the chicken is plentiful. And, you get to put your own sauces on.
- Hands down best food cart in NYC. Long lines are an indication. Get the half chicken/half lamb combo. Excellent.
- Nathan KamMay 20, 2012You need this! Seriously. Cheap an delicious street food. The gyro with white and hot sauce for $4 is a winner!
- Jamil FullerJuly 3, 2013I love spicy food and asking for BIG MISTAKE. You will burn your insides. Seriously ask for only a little.
- Tracy KnowsSeptember 20, 2013Pretty awesome.. I leave my house in long island to go into the city for this ish!
- I love this classic food cart, delicious with the rice, bread, lamb and chicken, white sauce and BBQ...... And I never have to wait for lines!!!!! VIP
- lamb and rice in a platter with extra hot sauce & white sauce is best late-night snack that's both filling and tasty.
- Nino NavasAugust 7, 2010This halal cart us horrible! Tourists seem to love it, but do not eat it! You want real good halal? Go downtown to Leroy street and Hudson. Best halal food in town. Clean and fresh unlike 53rd garbage
- Benjamin LotanOctober 23, 2011The line would have u believe it is amazing, but really it's just pretty good. 6 bucks buys u food for two. Or eat it yourself and give your leftovers to someone living on the street.
- Rich WentzekApril 5, 2015The food will lay on you like a bad suit. Tastes good for the first bite but after that, you better have the pepcid ac ready
- Fiachra MaguireAugust 20, 2014Falafel sandwich was almost too much to handle. Amazing value and obviously justifiable ques.
- Dan SamekSeptember 13, 2019There is usually queue and it's for good reason. Very cheap and great food.
- Ashley AlvarezFebruary 24, 2013Best value. $7 for combo over rice with a drink. Red sauce is VERY hot. Great meal.
- Paul PatrickNovember 16, 2010every time i go i get about 4 or 5 gyros / platters to last me for the week. line can be rough especially in the winter but its ALWAYS worth it.
- TammyOctober 12, 2011If you can't handle spicy, don't even try the red sauce. The half lamb half chicken over rice with white sauce is def a tourist favorite.
- Alan TangMarch 28, 2013All 3 carts with dudes wearing yellow hoodies are related. I thought it was only the cart directly across from the hilton. Good to know when that line is huge
- Tam TranSeptember 8, 2013Don't go too happy go lucky with the hot sauce! You'll end up crying or getting heart burn (unless you really like it!) >.<
- Luis ZambranoSeptember 29, 2013It is really as good as its reputation suggests, and they have several food trucks in the area and in the city. Try them all!
- Snooty WaiterSeptember 2, 2011The white sauce isn't what's amazing....you're amazing. Friend Snooty Waiter on Facebook so I can pour more honey in your ear.
- Jonathan ChanJune 22, 2013Don't know why I keep lining up for the original cart, the five other carts from the franchise are exactly the same and have no line. Maybe the wait makes it taste better?
- Leelah ParsonsMay 15, 2010Best food ive had in NY! I dont know about a line tho. there was no line for me. the hot sauce is the BEST!!!!!! i could do without the chicken tho but still GOOD!
- Michael WitbrockJuly 17, 2016Tell them not to put the white stuff (some kind of mayonnaise) on your sandwich.
- stephiedooMay 27, 2011I actually prefer the lamb over the chicken. Get the mix to get both. Tons of white sauce, careful on the red...so good though!
- In Midtown West, the epicenter of overpriced food in Manhattan, this is probably one of the cheapest, most satisfying meals you can get (except for maybe a $5 footlong @ Subway). Red sauce = VERY HOT.
- Tyler DeeMay 23, 2011Uhm, there's no reason to go to other Halal stands. These guys are legit, the food is packed, and it's delicious. A miracle for this corner, really.
- Mike SmithAugust 24, 2014Pro Tip: there is always a line on the northernwestern side of the 6th ave but across the street are the exact same guys with no line. DO NOT EAT FROM THE CART CLOSER TO 52!!! THEY ARE IMPOSTERS.
- Mubarak ChaudhryAugust 7, 2015It's OK food. Nothing to write home about. OK shawarma, tasteless chicken, standard mayo based white sauce, unimaginatively ridiculously harsh hot sauce. Rice is the star! I count it as a demerit!
- Craig TurpinOctober 12, 2011Opt out of the lettuce and double down on yellow rice from the gods and the best damn gyro meat on 6th. Plus get the hot sauce cuz you want the pain! Read more
- David LiMarch 20, 2013Little known secret: you can get free onions and peppers on it, you just have to ask
- Highly recommend the gyro street meat. Worth the wait!
- Ask for a little bit of BBQ sauce on top of usual white and hot sauce, you'll be surprised.
- Carlo 🍙 SAugust 31, 2014The red sauce is really spicy. Like, really REALLY spicy. But get it anyway.
- Jhon CarmonaJuly 8, 2011Try to come after 7:30 and order the Chicken Beef Salad with plenty of white sauce and you will like it this is good food try it
- Christopher ThomasJuly 24, 2012Maybe changing the name of this place on Foursquare to it's actual name (The Halal Guys) and noting its actual corner (SE) would help people find it when you are lucky to not see a line.
- Best street food of NYC. Mind the line during peak hours.
