- SarahNovember 24, 2014Get the hot wurst platte to share! It is a TON of food, so you might not even need an entrée. The mustard is super spicy but tasty! The jaegerschnitzel is delicious as well.Upvoted Nov 19
- Erik RowleyJanuary 16, 2017A must dine while visiting Indy, this Bavarian themed restaurant is housed in a beautiful, ornate structure with moose heads adorning the walls. The jaegerschnitzel is fantastic!
- SarahOctober 14, 2017Definitely worth the price. You get a ton of food, and there are PRETZELS in the bread baskets! The mustard that comes with is VERY spicy horseradish. Delicious. Apple strudel for dessert!
- ISC ChicagoJuly 7ROULADEN (Beef rollup filled with bacon, onions, spicy mustard and tart pickle wedge slowly cooked for tenderness and topped with homemade brown gravy), with sauerkraut, German potato salad
- Amy Brockway-JacklAugust 7, 2016The Ayinger Celebrator Double Bock is a don't-miss for dark beer fans! Authentic German atmosphere and dishes but plenty of non-German food for any diners who are mostly there for the drink.
- Erik RowleyJanuary 16, 2017Be careful dipping your pretzel, this stuff is extremely spicy! The Rathskeller also has a phenomenal German and European beer selection.
- Patrice JimersonDecember 23, 2014The haute wurst plate, Mager Cider, and Rathskeller Amber were all wonderful!!! Beware of spicy mustard -- is delicious but hot!!! The tables in the back of the restaurant are lovely!!
- Jim LewisApril 8, 2016They need to take one of the two tops out of the bar. I have fat dude behind, can't fit in his own space, so I have to put up with his every move Telegraphing into the back of my chair!
- ArdvaarkAugust 2, 2015The bar tenders in the beer garden are frequently wrong about their stock of some of the more exotic imports. Visit the bar inside for the real story.
- Men's Health MagNovember 17, 2011The Germans, as it turns out, know how to make a hell of a crisp brew. Saddle up in the bar attached to this German restaurant, and order from its wide range of unpronounceable German beers.
- ISC ChicagoJuly 7OCHSENSCHWANZ SUPPE (A GERMAN TRADITION MADE WITH OX TAILS, ONIONS, MUSHROOMS AND PORT WINE)
- Ross RobertsonMay 9, 2018Never actually have come here for a meal, but the beer garden is a nice spot to make new friends. Always a good time.
- Deborah HollowayAugust 25, 2012My husband took me here for our first date, I really enjoyed everything the meal, the music, (the company) and even going up on the roof...
- Ryan G.August 14, 2013Best wienerschnitzel outside of Germany. Also, the trick to dealing with the mustard is breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
- Sasha GMarch 30, 2014Dinner price was quite pricy. Listen to the waitress when she says the mustard is hot. Enjoyed the beer esp German ones. Fun place to visit.
- Michael CJuly 26, 2019An absolute stunner of a German-American restaurant, biergarten, and unique piece of Indy history.
- The schnitzel cordon bleu, jaegerschnitzel & regular schnitzel are really great, just different arrangements of toppings/sauces. Very spicy mustard. Bread & pretzels are suberb. Doppelbock to drink!
- The atmosphere in the biergarten makes for a perfect spring/summer/fall night!
- Christina DuryJanuary 25, 2013The Schlackt Platte is amazing! Paired with red cabbage and German potato salad - just the perfect pairings.
- Patrick HarrahJuly 19, 2013Get the Chicken Cordon Bleu fingers and the pork tenderloin. They were delicious.
- Wayne and Mike rock it behind the bar. Some of Indy's finest and unmolested bartenders.
- Ricky PottsApril 2, 2011If you are looking for an authentic German experience, try this place. From entrees to beers they are legit.
- MujtabaSeptember 3, 2011The only beer garden in Indy and they have excellent pretzels and outdoor area.

- Get the potato pancakes. Know the potato pancakes. /Love/ the potato pancakes.
- Will SearsNovember 20, 2010The spicy mustard is disgusting! I don't see the hype. I literally teared up when I ate it. The beer here is amazing, though!!!
- For German food, the place is a joke. For beer and good times, it's always a good choice. Stick with the brats though.
- Shivaughn P.February 24, 2012I should have read the tips first. That mustard will clear out your sinuses.
