Less busy than The Empire State building so easier to do photography if you're into that kind of thing.

Better than the view from the Empire State, 'cause you can actually see the Empire State building from up here. Night view >>> Day view. The crazy size of the city in lights will astound you.

One of the best views from Manhattan, go there on the twilight time then you can see the sunset and the beginning of the night. Don't forget your camera!!

First morning we were in New York, our first stop was Top of the Rock. Best decision ever, because it helps put things into a massive context - you get great bearings and a sizing of Central Park

As soon as you get there go to the upper deck to take pictures without a glass in front of you! Check sunset time on the Internet, go there a hour before and stay until dark.

The views here are epic. Go during sunset and watch the skies transform as the city lights flickers to life. There is a colourful disco room too. That's what I call it anyway. Hehe.

very very messy! I bought a ticket to enter the 16: 30h and enjoy the sunset. Sao 16: 55h and I'm still in a giant queue!Lack of respect and disorganization!

Check in right after dusk on a weekday: it's definitely less crowded and you can admire the beautiful lights glow in the evening sky all over Manhattan.

If you want to be there around sunset, make sure you buy your tickets ~1 hour before. Unfortunately, the deck does not go through the west side, so cannot see the amazing colors directly.

There is a shorter line if you enter from the underground entrance. From the 47-50th subway station walk north underground and follow the signs.

Best observatory in Manhattan imo, with great views of uptown, downtown and across the East River. If you like modern art get a combo ticket that gives entry to the MoMA too.

Free app available with audio tour. Fills the time while waiting in line, but if the line is short be sure to skip ahead to match your location. Go at night and see the Empire State bldg lighted.

If I'd have to pick one observation deck, I'd chose this one. Buying untimed ticket on the web is useless, you still have to queue to schedule the visit, it's slower than buying tickets at the automat

You must do it at day and night. Best rooftop of all NYC. Forget the Empire State. Here you don't have steel bars to take pictures. Forget to bring your tripod. You can't pass with it.
