- Jack OsborneOctober 2, 2018If you love your beer then you're in beer heaven. Absolutely unbelievable! Over forty on tap and you can bring in food from Rosamund next door! Yeah, this might be beer heaven.
- Brooks HurdSeptember 21, 2014Toronado has a great selection of craft beer on tap. We saw 4 Russian Rivers and 4 Moonlights on tap. They also have a massive bottle list. This is one of the world's great beer centric bars!
- This bar has an amazing selection of craft beers on tap. Grab a sausage sandwich next door at Rosamunde, bring it over, and chow down with a pint. Read all about my visit on WinstonWanders below!! Read more
- Michael MuseJanuary 29, 2015Sour beers abound & they let you bring sausages from next door. What more could you ask for? If your 1st thought to my last Q was 'A David Cross doppelganger!' you're in luck cause they had that too
- Great place! Great selection of beers. Rowdy and divy, and usually heavy metal playing on the speakers. Sometimes they do themed nights, e.g. barley wine, sour beers, or porters.
- Chris VodolaApril 21, 2017Amazing place. Just casually serving $6 pints of Pliny. As far as beer bars ago, it's one of the best in the country.
- tina huangDecember 14, 2015LOVE the beer selection. consistently have stuff from Almanac (some of my favorite sour beers) and Russian River (blind pig IPA is my go-to) on rotation. also one of the few places w/ Pliny on tap
- One of, if not the, best beer bar in the city. Cash only, gruff barkeeps. Love it, go for the awesome beer. Pliny and blind pig on tap.
- Adrianna TanSeptember 16, 2016Perfect cross between divey and crafty. Love most of the beers except the one that tasted like coriander soap. Friendly bouncer with cute dog.
- StephanySeptember 9, 2018Get a sausage next door at Rosamunde and they’ll let you bring it in to enjoy with your Pliney the Elder.
- Classic beer dive bar. This placed helped make craft beer popular in the 90s & 00s. However, it often stinks like toilets, vomit, & BO. "Sister" bars Horse Brass (OR) & Falling Rock (CO) are nicer.
- You must get a table and have a Rosamunde sausage in hand to fully enjoy Toronado. You could drink for days & still not touch everything on this well-priced beer menu.
- Unpretentious place to grab beer, eat a sausage from next door, or wings from down the street. Come on an off night or during the day to sit at the bar.
- Tasting TableSeptember 5, 201445-plus beer selection (and low prices) at this Lower Haight institution is unbeatable, from rare Belgians to local brews (Russian River, Almanac, Half Moon Bay). Read more
- Men's Health MagNovember 15, 2011The owners here worship beer. They’ll talk your ear off about the 100-plus beers in the back. It would be overwhelming if it wasn’t so damn genuine. Ask for a local brew and win their attention.
- Karthik RangarajanJanuary 3, 2018Fantastic selection of beers at a very reasonable price. Gets very crowded, and is a cash only bar
- Awesome selection of beers. One of the few places to occasionally offer De Koninck (my favorite Belgian style pale ale). If they have it, get it.
- Travel ChannelDecember 9, 2011With over 50 microbrews on tap and 100 bottled beers, this is a great stop for an afternoon drink. As seen on Travel Channel’s The Layover with Anthony Bourdain.
- ChrisJanuary 2, 2017The Lost Abbey Cable Car this the only place you'll find this sour beer! Be ready to shell out $80.00 for the bottle.
- Great beer list with ever increasingly douchey patrons. The bartenders still act like assholes but now it feels like it’s just for show to appease the touristas.
- K RFebruary 24Best beer bar in all of Northern California. They always have amazing beers & hard to find breweries on tap. Plus, they have casks!
- One time I came here with my iPad (alone) & a drunk dude behind me began touching my screen; the bartender, without a comment, immediately throws the guy out. I've never felt so respected in my life.
- This place has the best beer selection in town. Take some time to read the menu on the board above the bar because there are many choices.🍻
- Alex DobyanOctober 29, 2017Everything you want in a beer bar. Tons of excellent brews on tap, more in bottles, unpretentious environs. Big winner.
- Brad GrahamMay 10, 2014Daytime drinking is a tradition here, as it is in any great city. 50-plus microbrews on tap and 100 bottled beers. Jukebox with no Grateful Dead policy
- Serious EatsFebruary 20, 2014This Haight Street bar has offered great beer in San Francisco since 1987.
- Wesley HodgsonMay 21, 2012Delicious collection of beers in a just-divey-enough setting. Plus you can grab a sausage next door at Rosamunde and bring it in.
- Liana VitousekOctober 8, 2017Incredible tap list and service - we cannot wait to be back, and felt very very at home on our first visit.
- RaynaMay 31, 2015Probably my favorite bar of all time. Huge beer list, large selection of sours. Incredible atmosphere and music selection.
- Always has Russian River beers on tap. Pliny the Elder is RR's best seller at other bars, but those in the know order Blind Pig instead.
- Kait GaissMay 13, 2016The other legendary beer bar in the Lower Haight (more so than Noc Noc), you grab a sausage from Rosamunde's next door and head in with it.
- John SteidleFebruary 16, 2020One of the best tap lists in the city - cash only. Come here if it’s too cold to be outside at zeitgeist.
- The only things clean here are the beer lines and glassware. Selection is only great if you go once. Go again in a week, same selection. Another week, *maybe* some new stuff. You can do better SF.
- SFGate ManagerJuly 16, 2012With roughly 50 beers on tap, including a handful of hand-pumped options, as well as an extensive bottle list - it's easy to see why the bar has achieved a cult-like status among beer enthusiasts.
- Drew SicklerSeptember 21, 2016Great place to grab a pint of Pliny The Elder if you're visiting from the East Coast. Otherwise, any craft beer here is tasty.
- Kimberly AginAugust 4, 2015Super divey (which I love) and an extensive, good beer selection. But be warned - they only have beer and they only take cash.
- Tons of craft beer on tap and an extensive bottle list. Come for the Barleywine festival. Know your order before approaching the bar, dummy.
- Jolene OropillaApril 14, 2013Cash only. Bring your taste buds, there's the bottle list on top of the draft board. BYON (bring your own noms) because they don't serve food, but you're welcome to bring in your own.
- Campbell BirdJune 7, 2016Very awesome bar with great beer selection. Pliny the Elder and other Russian River drafts are regularly on tap here.
- JonSeptember 24, 2014Take a stroll up Divisadero and grab a stool and a bottle of fantastic beer here. Great crowd during the day--really welcoming place.
- Alex EscamillaMarch 19, 2017Outstanding beer selection! Guys behind bar are pretty cool too. Cheers all!
- CITY GRITAugust 1, 2014Beware - if you don’t know beer, just be up front about it. We witnessed two self-proclaimed beer experts get schooled and wimper away with their tails between their legs.
- Brew LatelyJanuary 26, 2022Amazing local tap list of craft beers, cash only and bartenders with and without a personality 😉
- The Daily MealJune 20, 2011This bar is known for its well-curated beer selection, but it stands out for its lack of pretension. Brave the divey atmosphere and loud music to enjoy its hard-to-come-by craft beers. Read more
- EsquireFebruary 1, 2011Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. Go next door for a sausage and tuck into a pint of Pliny the Elder at the bar. You're welcome.
- Is a great beer list worth all the assholes who go in there and act like schmucks. It used to be a great place but it has changed over the years.
