not crazy about the atmosphere, but the food is delicious. try the pork sliders, seasonal salad, and broccoli rabe. every plate is unique so you won't be disappointed. 4-5 plates is good for 2!
Oh my gawd! Had 11 course tasting menu. Everything was awesome. My favorite was definitely the scallops. $40 is a total deal. I'd pay 3x as much for a meal like this. In the top 3 meals I've ever had
Innovative, delicious small plates transcend any genre or classification at Traif. Come with a group and get the tasting menu; you might get the pork belly, the short rib sliders, or the bacon donuts.
Salt n peppershrimp, scallops, spaetzle, & kale salad were so good and extremely flavorful but the best dish was the tuna tartar. This born & raised Floridian gives the Key Like pie a thumbs up too!
I'm still dreaming of the meal I had here last weekend. Dishes that stood out were the tuna with tempura Japanese eggplant, the baked muenster, pork belly, ribs, the seared scallops. Get everything!
My second time here & it was even better than the first. We sat at the bar & everyone, even the kitchen staff, went above & beyond to make it special. My parents were so impressed!
Spare ribs, bacon wrapped dates, heirlooms + corn pudding + ricotta, burrata, short rib sliders, panne cotta. Steph is calling this our best meal of 2014 to date. Not convinced but very solid.
One of the most unique and delicious menus in all of New York City. If you love pork, come here. Get the short rib sliders and finish with an order of the strange yet tasty bacon doughnuts.
Tapas style. 2 per person is more than enough. The white fish salad is more of a white fish spread - amazing. Stay away from the fried chicken and biscuits with sausage gravy and watermelon.
Excellent food, Valentine's tasting menu was beautifully done. Butterfishsashimi on risotto and the day boat scallops were divine. Wait with a reservation was a bit long, but well worth it!
They should rename this place Troof! Best tuna tartare I've ever had and the short rib sliders/sweet potatofries combo completely blew our minds. One of the best restaurants in Brooklyn.
Most of the snacks on chef Jason Marcus’s often-changing menu are $10 or less. Snag a table on the lush back patio, & feast with the knowledge you’re filling your belly without emptying your wallet. Read more
The ribs are incredible! Slightly sweet and spicy, fall-off-the-bone meat but still crispy on the outside. Loved the bits of bacon that rimmed the Rude Little Pigcocktail. Can't wait go back!
We got the fricassee escargot which is a perfect, warm fall weather dish & short rib sliders perfection. The rude little pigcocktail is rimmed with bacon & the cocktail infused with basil was amazing
We always start with the Red Pearl - one of our favorite cocktails in the city! Our top three dishes are the Tuna Tartare, Salt & PepperShrimp, & the Baby Back Ribs!
Creative, eclecticsmall plates like pork and duck rillettes w/ rhubarb-peach marmalade, fried artichoke hearts & sea urchin, king crabbéarnaise. Try Red Pearl: chili-infused vodka and muddled kiwi. Read more
Everything is good. Especially the truffleescargotgnocchi, tuna tartare, and pork belly. But don't fret about choices -- just get the 9 course chef's choice for $50.
The BBQBraised Short Rib Sliders were amazing--definitely the highlight. The waitress recommended 10 plates (it's all tapas-style) for 4 people--everything was delicious, but 10 plates was too many!
We just stopped in for a drink on the way to dinner elsewhere, but by the time we left we wished we were staying here! The bartenders are stellar, the drinks are among the best I've had.
The name translates to “forbidden” in Yiddish. Try Jason Marcus' eclecticpork and shellfish creations for dinner or brunch. Closed Mon. - Green Guide Editor
Had the tasting menu and It was one of the best meals I've ever had! Highlights were the bacon doughnuts, key lime pie (made by chef's mom I'm told), pork belly and the biggest foie gras I ever saw
Must haves: tare tare and strawberryribs. Also old fashioned is comparable to Rye, which if you had half a brain would know that its fuxin legit. Good luck not creaming yourself.
Not a single complaint to make about even one of the 9 dishes we ordered. You need to get the ribs, fois gras, tuna tartare, bacon doughnuts and everything else on the menu like yesterday ago.
The tasting menu usually isn't available unless you have a party of three or more. But if you still want it, ask to sit at the bar. It's absolutely worth it!
I've been coming here with my sister for almost 3 years now. We're always excited to go & never disappointed. Allison is the best there too! Give her big tips!!
Traif is a small plate treasure that should not be missed. The strawberryribs are great and the sliders are so good, I guarantee you will order them every time you eat here.
